Batman literally saves the city and solidifies his status as a hero. Then, he lets the city know that he will be there for them when/if he is ever needed again. It's a triumphant ending, as it should be.

It's the music. I feel that Elfman's finale music just doesn't quite mix with the rest of the movie with its tone. But that's just me.

I will say that the final notes of the piece suggest that gloomy sense from the rest of the movie, which I add up to in my mind as a link to the more disturbed Bruce Wayne in Batman Returns.

The music is fitting and impeccably elevates the scene and visuals. That last statement of the batman theme says it all that this peaceful moment won't last b/c crime will always be lurking. It also sort of reflects Bruce embracing his war on crime over a normal life. In some ways it's the rise of Batman and the fall of Bruce Wayne. It makes sense b/c the next time we see in BR he's dedicated most of his time as Batman.

What was more out of place was when Finale was used in the trailers for BF and B&R. Finale actually convinced me that B&R was going to be great, lol.

Yup, that was a cruel marketing ploy. That music can make anything seem amazing.

Elfman is the best. Also Shirley Walker.

It saddens me we'll be getting Hans Zimmer again for BvS instead of a new composer.

Now here's music that's more out of place than the "Finale" cue being featured in the BF and B&R trailers. Somebody edited a YT video of the endings to BB amd B89 with the music swapped. He edited Elfman's "Finale" to the BB ending and Zimmer "A Watchful Guardian" from TDK to the B89 finale.

Blitzkrieg Bop probably preferred something along the lines of "A Watchful Guardian" for the B89 finale.

Heh, A Watchful Guardian on B'89 actually didn't sound half-bad. Finale over the Begins ending sounded way out of place though.

I dunno man, A Watchful Guardian sounds more Batmany heroic. Finale fits just fine with 89.

I agree. Watchful Guardian sounds great with Batman 89, but Finaly felt out place with Begins,

Oh, I didn't mean it fit better than Finale, just that it worked better than I would've figured, whereas the bombast of Finale did not work with the intimate Batman/Gordon conversation at all. I don't think you could write a more fitting piece of music to end Batman 89 than Finale, one of my favorite Batman cues period.

I wonder how "Batman's Destiny" of B:MOTP would work with both TDK and B89 endings?

I also think the ears on the cowl look short, so I can't help but think that's Adam West standing up there.

I think it could def work with TDK, there are some similar movements/progression to the Walker theme within the Watchful Guardian suite. And I'll guess that it could work pretty well with B'89 too.

Can't go too wrong with Walker.

The ears are also further forward than they are on Keaton's actual cowl.

Yeah, it struck me more as him looking at the bat signal as how he is on better terms with the people of Gotham now. Because over the course of the film, he really is on his own and feels so alone. Now there are people who support him, so this is their way of saying he is doing right, which is something as conflicted as Keaton's Batman must have struggled with.

I watched this today. I can never get tired of it. What an incredibly satisfying Batman film. It's just layered with great stuff after the other. And if anything has stood the test of time, it's Keaton's performance.

I just love the sequence where the Batmobile is going to the Batcave on that winding road deep in the woods. The imagery combined with the music feels like the descent into something otherworldly, hell even.
