MOS2 would follow on JL. It would not be a direct sequel.

The money potential is huge and WB will give it a second film. If it does not perform at that point, which I doubt it won't, then they woild back off.

2020 for the next film makes it more a question will Cavill be on board. He'll be almost 40. I thnk that is the big question mark.

Its not a guarantee a WW solo or GL solo would be hugely successful either.

Random thought in Man of Steel:

Zod gives 24 hours. Why couldn't we have just sent Jack Bauer in to stop Zod before we give up Clark to them?

Because Jack is a fugitive

This is the big reason why I doubt well get MOSsquel-Cavill being too old at the time and deciding to move on

I dont see a WW solo movie happening at this point - Gadot needs to show why she is the right choice as WW first. And really she is the weak link in all of this - terrible actor. Also Cavill I think will want to move onto other roles. So I doubt MOS2 will happen unless he strikes a deal for much bigger money.

But JL2/3 will need a Superman actor. If they go with someone younger they'd use that actor in any solo.

Cavill does not have to be Superman after JL. A new actor might be better received than him. I agree about the age thing. If the new Superman in future JLs (assuming Cavill does not re-sign which no one knows what will happen.) is a big success in the role then of course they'd give him a shot at a solo. Plus a new actor comes in as less expensive.

Exactly; the studio only needs Cavill up until JL. Then new contracts will have to be discussed and who knows? By then he might be a wonderful actor. I hope so, anyway.

I already have a ton of people on my ignore list and not because they don't share my opinion, it's because they are trolling. I've taken people off of my ignore list recently as well because I re-evaluated them as posters. And those people didn't share my opinion but I feel they aren't trolls.

So if the studio was trhilled with MOS, we would be getting a straight forward MOS sequel -- by internet definition that seems to mean no other costumes ---- as opposed to a team up.

I find that odd seeing as how in the same statement we are told that WB is trying to mirror the success of marvel. Beg's the question of just what it would take mos doing for WB to not 'copy' marvel and get into the mash ups. Maybe they could have made 2 more superman films(the way they did with cap/thor/hulk) and a few more batman solo's too.

I also find it tragic that people underplay MOS success. Note where it's domestic numbers sit in comparison to this years performers(all sequels to good sequels). Note where it it's totals land in comparison to where all that phase one stuff landed...
It's opening records...
All of this compared to Begins, a film in a similar position. All this compared to returns, a film in a better position..

Mark Hughes said new contracts will be discussed after BvS comes out for JL. Thar is why thee won't be an MOS2 announcement b/f 2016 probably.
