Serious theater drop. Blended Expanded, lol

Now at 650. Not sure if it can push past X3 now.

Of course, the least theater drop was Maleficent. Not understanding the craze for this terrible film. Frozen was great but my kids did not like Maleficent.

XMEN has had stellar legs yet they drop it the most this week.

I don't know. The daily comparison gap between X3 and DoFP is at about 3.5 million in domestic unadjusted gross. I'm keeping hope alive!

I think the only way for DOFP to outgross X3 is if Fox expands its theater count. And I'm hoping they will but I think they won't. Warner Brothers expanded This is the End's theater count just so the film would cross the $100 million mark and it did.

We're not arguing over the fact that overall box office is affected by higher prices and IMAX screens, just your comment about it's effect on legs. In any case, Blackout gave a good explanation of the reason why high ticket prices do not have a positive effect on legs, so it will be redundant to go over it again.

It could be hitting the discount theaters.

My local theater still has one show left! I was sure it would be a goner this weekend.

There's absolutely no reason to be disappointed by the fact that TF4 is making more money than DOFP.

The last TF film did over $1,1 billion, this one will make less than that.

The last X-Men film did $353,624,124 while DOFP will make almost $400 millions more.

With those perspectives in mind,DOFP is a fantastic success, regardless of how much other, already big franchises, make.

Not only DOFP finally broke out the franchise as a big timer,it satisfied the critics/fans/casual audiences so it has everything going for it for the next film.If Apocalypse delivers, all bets are off.

Despite bleeding so many theaters/screens DOFP is still holding on for a $231-232M finish. But if Fox cares enough to push it pass X3 then it could do dollar theaters or double features etc. for that extra bit.

Yep Transformers was always going to outgross DOFP but I wonder if Maleficent will as well? It's going to be a close race.

Regardless of what the competition has done DOFP has done very well for itself obviously. Looks like it's going to match the adjusted gross of the original X-Men at least.

I hope so. The film is only 3 million away from beating X3's unadjusted gross in a daily comparison. Even without any extra efforts by the studio, the film has a chance of surpassing X3. Extra efforts wouldn't hurt though.

I think FOX will push beyond X3 somehow, it will be very close to it by the time it leaves theaters and starts the low budget theater run. Also it seems X-Men is going to pass ASM2 overseas as well. Poor Spidey, X-Men has beaten it critically, domestically, worldwide and soon overseas.

I think it can push past X3 too. Capt. America 2 has added roughly $3 million over the past 3-4 weeks...and it's closer to the end of its run. DOFP is a little more than halfway through. Surely it can earn another $5 million through the end of September (rough closing date estimate).

Cloud Atlas was certified fresh at RT at 66%. So yeah, it wasn't exactly on the level of Gone With The Wind, but was light years beyond...um, X-Men: The Last Stand.

I've yet to see Cloud Atlas, but I want to see it at some point.

Regardless, Halle is still a name.

Not yet seen Extant either, it's only on Amazon Prime which I don't really want to subcribe to. I can't really justify the cost of a subscription.

I like this. 500M+ overseas and 730M+ worldwide. Soon 230M US. I think I originally hoped 220M+ US, 480M+ OS and 700M+ WW. Pleasantly surprised. Most importantly it's a good movie so it's easy to be happy about its success.

Same here, though what I'm sad is I forgot to screencap that DOFP was the #1 highest grossing X-Men film on Box-Office Mojo yearly chart .

And Planet of the Apes is probably going to outgross DOFP if it has great legs, I saw the film, it was superb.

So I think DOFP will settle @ #9 (U.S. yearly 2014) and #5 worldwide.

Maleficent will beat dofp's domestic gross but not sure about international, dofp still has life in it and could hit 750 million, it only needs 18 million anyways.

I don't think it will beat DOFp's worldwide gross, its already opened in all countries like China and Japan. Unless it performs like Frozen in Japan. Hopefully not.

If Maleficent survives in Japan next weekend with 5 new movies opening, it could very well outgross DOFP's WW.

There Is no way Maleficent doesn't outgross DOFP domesticly. It's going to be
depressing If it does overseas as well.

It's one thing for a quality film to beat DOFP at box office. That Is why it's not so bad that WS Is higher domesticly but maleficent and transformers are not what I call quality films.
