(NO SPOILERS) Black Panther Early Tweet Discussion Thread (NO SPOILERS)

Watched #BlackPanther last night. It would be a memorable movie even if it wasn't a Marvel movie and that's what makes it so good.

Tomorrow I promise good hype, that at this time I'm too lazy to write so much, but come on, you can be calm. It is a movie that will satisfy those who expect it and will surprise many who believe that the MCU is just a movie of jokes and people with powers #BlackPanther

#BlackPanther is wild. The soundtrack SLAPS. The cast is incredible. I’m trying to name standouts but they’re all so good. Chadwick Boseman, Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Michael B. Jordan, Martin Freeman, and Andy Serkis are all fantastic.

Watching Black Panther again solidified it as the best Marvel film. I’m so happy this film exists.
There is *nothing* like it.
Raw. Painful. Beautiful.

Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira are the stand outs of Black Panther. And, duh, Michael Bae Jordan was AMAZING. Like, I was rooting for the villain amazing. GODDAMN.

Early screening of @Marvel #BlackPanther. Thanks to @Lance_Paul. Great cast but @letitiawright stole the show. So good!

BLACK PANTHER is, like, exemplary. Goddamn, that was cool.

I don’t even wanna wrap it in my usual “it’s good for a Marvel movie” b.s. That is just a fantastic action movie.

Great roster of characters, a villain all the more angering cuz he has some valid points, wonderful world-building. I think I want to...see it again? Who am I?

#BlackPanther is an epic journey through Wakanda. Every character is given their chance to shine in this beautiful film. Exhilarating action and stunning cinematography. Black Panther lives up to the in every way imaginable. I want to see every character again and again.

Holy wow! @MarvelStudios has done it again and then some! #blackpanther is all the yesses!

Based on my reaction to Black Panther I know I could not handle a fully brown people movie. I literally can't imagine an entire North American movie about brown people without crying. Also, still grateful sobbing about Black Panther.

It’s taken about 10 tries to try and summarize how I feel about #BlackPanther.

I will simply say this - I’m all about it.

BLACK PANTHER IS SO GREAT Y’ALL
https://twitter.com/markellislive/status/960758606864855040

#BlackPanther is outstanding. Was captivated all the way through. Crazy to think that phase 3 leading up to the biggest crossover event would actually contain amazing self contained stories from the mcu. This cast is one of the best modern comicbook film ensembles.
The score is BEAUITFUL & the music SLAPS. Wakanda has rich lore that is brought beautifully to life on screen. The world is going to love playing in this world for more films to come. Also some all time mcu shots. Great cinematography

Yes Killmonger is a really good fleshed out villain. I would definitely put him in top 3 mcu villains but don't ask me what spot yet. Michael B gives it all he has. Some powerful lines that almost lifted me up from my seat I **** you not. Gonna be quoting this dude.

Just saw @theblackpanther . . . Can't say much yet, but this easily one of the best @MarvelStudios movies yet. The "kinda *****ey guy who gets powers and saves the day" trope was starting to wear thin. This thankfully goes in a different direction thanks to Ryan Coogler.

BLACK PANTHER: this film was a breath of fresh air not only for the MCU but for cinema. Ryan Coogler creates a stylish and stunning world filled with characters with depth, beauty and meaning. Representation is essential. We all deserve to see ourself as the hero. This matters.

Love, love, loved this movie. If this is what the next phase of the MCU is going to be like, I am all in.

It's looking they are going to have to make Shuri the lead star if there's a sequel heh.

Nope that's just racist troll.

Well, you sound pleasant.

Fact is, we don't know. Critics are all pointing toward this being a really solid entry, and that's a great sign, it probably is. There are quite a few of these less-than-stellar reactions though, there might be something to this 'the first act drags a lot' stuff, we just don't know.

People can think that without being racists.

Man, as a black person I just can't stand this militancy stuff. Try to have a bit more of a level head. Even if this movie's as awesome as it looks, there are bound to be a few flaws here and there like any other movie. People are just fine in voicing that.

We've had tweets from white supremacists that outright bashed the movie.

It's not unreasonable or militant to consider there might be other, less blatant examples of racist bias.

Especially when most tweets are raves.

And we have no reason to think these negatives from the early reactions (which aren't even all that negative) are these racist ****-stirring trolls.

Let's not conflate the two. Racists are going to hate this movie, no doubt - and the boycott crap is ridiculous. That doesn't mean every middle-of-the-road "I mostly really liked it, it's top 2 or 3 Marvel movies, but I thought it had a couple issues" is one of those people.

The movie's good, we can reasonably deduce that already. It's probably even Winter Soldier good.

Let's not get to a point where anyone who didn't think it was some groundbreaking game-changer for action/scifi/comic cinema as a whole is apparently some white-hood though.

Yeah we're no where close to that point.

Read through the thread.

Most luke warm reactions don't get any response let alone skepticism or allegations of racism.

I think she could take on the mantle for a while once BP has had 3 films and has a reason to be out of commission.

Marvel hasn't even had a female solo film and the first black superhero film they make y'all wanna be talking about replacing him with the sister already. Jeez.

Fact is, racist will say anything not to be called racist.

That's true.

That doesn't mean the few of these reactions saying they think it was really good but not the friggin' Godfather are part of the Ku Klux Troll brigade. They seem legitimate, there's no reason to think they haven't seen it, and even the ones with criticisms are overall pretty positive.

So yeah, let's cool our heels with the "dat's raycistz!" bull****. The people boycotting it or trying to mess with Rotten Tomatoes totally are. The others? Nah.

They don't seem legitimate, nice try.

Aximili86, this is possibly the most hated movie by white supremacist of the 21st century.

Anything that uplifts and empowers black children like this movie does threatens everything they stand for.

I don't think you comprehend the amount of venom and opposition this "funny book" movie faces.

And before you say racist have more important things to do...

No they don't.

Nobody's saying there aren't going to be dumb**** racists coming out of the woodwork trashing this thing, man. They already have.

The point being made is, that's not the same as these early screener reactions that are saying it's "really good but I had a couple minor problems with it". You both seem to be painting them with the same brush, and that's ridiculous.

#BlackPanther is one of the best Marvel. The sets, the costumes, the actors and especially the actresses are perfect. An interesting villain (Micheal B. Jordan) and political themes (but a little overflown for my taste).

#It remains on the idea that Marvel has the good idea to give a little more freedom to its directors despite a shackle of production certainly very (too) heavy. # Thor3 #BlackPanther

#Well it's not revolutionary but it's very effective, and it's a nice dive into the world of Black Panther, its myths, etc.

Tweets like those aren't some toothless redneck with a bone to pick. That's a positive with a qualifier. It's different.

Those arent the types of reactions they were referring to.

Winterfell mentioned reports online where the viewers had nothing good to say about the movie and that the rest of the audience felt the same way.

I know this movie isnt for everybody, even before we get into the racial stuff, but IMHO we've got enough feedback now to say that if you only see negatives in it theres probably something else going on here.
