Gunn was never going to overstep creative control. They have been nothing but transparent about allowing Matt Reeves to build out his vision. I feel like there's been a lot of maliciousness surrounding James Gunn as the co-CEO of DC Studios.

Filming dates are always subject to change this early in pre-production. So it's likely that they've set a tentative start date for January, but will move the schedule once they have a better idea of things to come.
