Gunn’s just a really, really annoying interview subject. The statement could probably be said about most movies this stage of production, just normally someone with Gunn’s job would say oh yeah it’s awesome and move on. He’s been publicly ******ing Matt for months so I’m not actually concerned...
And, again, it’s exacerbated so badly by Gunn’s choice to base it in sexual fear of immigrants/minorities which is suuuch a specific thing to evoke. Obviously, it’s not true about CLARK but the choice to have it based in some actual Truth is so thoughtless. If you’re only gonna think about...
There’s insufficient outcry and it feels like Gunn is VERY dedicated to the idea. The twist is fundamentally what the movie is ABOUT and there’s a reason it dedicates like three separate little scenes to reassuring the audience it’s absolutely not fake.
I’m sure they’ll flesh out Kryptonian...
She’s a really mixed bag to me because her physical acting is very impressive at times. But almost every line sounded like she was actively struggling with Eggers ultra theatrical dialogue to my ear - the scene where she stands up to Orlok especially is suuuper awkward imo.
They’re pretty brutal. No one invested needs to panic because it’s an obvious hit domestically and it feels clear to me a good sequel would make more, but it’s gotta be a worry for the DCU crew going forwards - especially when their next movie is a direct spinoff of this.
ATJ is fantastic and terribly underrated. There’s always been a strange, totally unwarranted hostility towards him I’ve never understood. Dudes in a lot of bad movies but so are a lot of actors people adore.
Lily I thought was abysmal in Nosferatu apart from a few notable exceptions so I’m a...
I will readily concede DCAU Superman is not overburdened with depth or personality. It's a wonderful show and he's not poorly characterized, imo, but he's pulp sci-fi adventure action hero man. Which is a take on Superman I am totally fine with but is obviously less character driven than...
Yes but a character narrating while a song plays is a nigh impossible cinematic tightrope walk. Not for the faint of heart. Reeves barely pulled it off by the skin of his teeth - I hear his 'stache was seared off by the sun as he flew too close to it on his wax wings.
Superman '78
Superman II
Superman Returns
Man of Steel
Superman III
There's something of a steep drop off after II. Then a very steep drop off after four. Was tempted to slot in BvS rather than III but the stuff I like in that movie is all Affleck and Irons related, nothing to do with Superman.
They could make such a sick New Gods movie. It would make 32 dollars but it would be great. I imagine a really strange, esoteric, Wachowski core joint.
You are my favourite old school comic fan on here so I say this with total respect: never speak to me or my son Superman The Animated Series again. New Gods and Superman go together great! They should always be a foundational part of a DCU!
