“Destroyer (Part 2)" Talkback/Discussion

I think atomic skull could defientaly be a hero, he showed hero capabilites, & he showed that maybe he was tired of being the bad guy & always getting beat down by the good guys.

when he said that its our world to, & we helped you guys save the world, don't we get a recomadation. so yeah i could definentaly see him shedding the bad boy image & turning good.
Another thing. Do you think the Giganta/Flash thing was an allusion to TEEN TITANS? Think about it; Rosenbaum also voiced Kid Flash on TT, and in that, Kid Flash had romantic interest in Jinx, a member of a baddie team who he wanted to go straight; and eventually did. Giganta, in comparison, started out devoted to the wicked Grodd, even willing to ally with Bizarro to bust him out of prison. But as soon as she became inconvient, he fried her brain and left her in prison; a rejection she still was angry about ("Alive"). Maybe like Jinx, she's seen that good guys usually treat one better in relationships. Or maybe I'm just reaching.

Of course, Speedy also showed up in "Patriot Act", voiced by his TT VA.

Flash has Fire, Linda and now Giganta seemingly pulling to date him. He could be busy a while.

Good review Dread. Always love em and will miss them dearly.

Echoing other posts, great reviews Dread. It was always good to get your analysis on the eps.

Here's what I said when the episode appeared online, months ago.

Good episode, but hardly great. I'd have to say this was one of Darkseid's more weak apperances. Its great that they left it open ended, but honestly, it didnt leave me feeling as amazed or stunned as Divided We Fall. Everything just really felt rushed to me. You could tell from the get go that this finale needed to be three parts. Since WB was forcing 13 eps per season, they should have just not done "Far from Home." That episode was of season one quality and should have ditched it from the get go. I loved that Supes punch, but two punches and that was it? Come on. Darkseid usually beats the crap out of Supes, but now, when Darkseid is Brainiac powered, they do this. Thats just bull****.

The best part of the episode, though, was the little things. That Brave and the Bold moment, with the catapult, was priceless. Jonn's return actually caught me by surprise. I knew he'd come back, but I had no idea that he was the elderly chinese man. When he turned into the dragon.... god that was awesome. Question punching that paragon was fantastic. I really loved the scene where Stargirl and STRIPE are suiting up. And lets not forget "Don't you have a building to jump?"

Overall I'd give this a 7.5. Hardly one of the DCAU's finest, but alot of great moments too. It really needed to be three parts. Last season had a four part finale...so why did they decide to cut that in half? JLU may not have went out with a whimper (Teen Titans anyone?), but it wasnt really much of a bang either. I'm not saying JLU should have ended last season, but maybe ending this season is for the best. "Flash and Substance," "The Great Brain Robbery," "Grudge Match," "Patriot Act" and "Shadow of the Hawk" were some of my favorite JLU episodes ever, but I think it is time to let go. "Far from Home" proved that even the greatest of writers can lose their skills after writing certain characters for over ten years. Plus its not like this is the final story in the DCAU. Brainiac attacks is still coming. And for all we know, "Worlds Collide" could still happen. I hope it does too, cause I have a feeling Johnny Quick is going to be the Timmverse version of Prof. Zoom and I'd love to see Johns progression post-Shayera. But I digress.

A slightly better than average finale for a slightly better than phenominal show. Farewell DCAU. The Batman can't hold a candle to you.

TMNT: Fast Foward:
In the upcoming sixth season of the series, the storyline will leap 99 years into the future under the subtitle Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fast Forward. According to a Playmates Toys press release: "Brought to the future by Cody Jones, the grandson of Casey Jones (TMNT) and April O’Neil, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael are forced to adapt to a whole new world – without their home, junk food or Shredder... The lighter and funnier-than-ever series... is set to bow 26 stand alone episodes in September 2006 on 4KidsTV."[2]. Unfortunately, as a result, the fifth season, which resolves the cliffhanger of the season four finale, will not air on TV and will be DVD only.

I don't think its an illusion to teen titans, but an illusion to flashes character. we saw flash's determination to pull jinx on the right side of the tracks & in the end it worked out. the same thing with Giganta. i think flashes funnyness & caring heart, got to giganta. she saw something in flash that made her smile, that no man has ever done for her.

but flashes funny antcis does indeeed attract the ladies to him & can also annoy & entertain some people at the same time. im glad that flash is having girls fall for him, cause in the earlier season's of ju/jlu, the women where turning him down left & right.

& it was a sad sight to see.:(

"also on that Giganta - flash kiss" what i saw when giganta kissed flash, was that flash wasn't even trying to get with her, in previous episdoes we've seen him despreatly try to get with women. but he wasn't just being himself.

here he was. & looked what happened, he got the attention of a beautiful women because he was just being himself. & not despretly trying to be all swavy & hip acting like alot of guys do when they try to meet a girl.

flash is starting to realize to just throw that hip swavyness away & start being his funny, crazy, caring, mature self.

Very true. In the first two seasons of JUSTICE LEAGUE, one could say that Flash was "trying too hard" and naturally that was driving some women off. Plus, during JL, Flash was supposed to still be a relatively "novice" hero, one who wasn't quite as experienced as many of the others (at least according to some interviews way back). By JL Season 2, Flash started showing off that he'd learned some things, which continued (and apexed) in JLU Seasons 2 & 3. On the dating front, Flash stopped "trying" as hard and probably gained more confidence in himself as a hero outside of his little "town" of Central City, having been a founding Justice Leaguer and survived his share of battles (he was no longer, say, a braggart wanting to beat Superman in a race).

Plus, he's definately more FUN than Batman. ;)

Well....here it was...the final episode of Justice League.

It was pretty decent, but like jaydawg, i wish it were a three parter. The fanboy moments really sell the episode. Superman unleashing his true power was a nice touch, as well as Batman dodging the omega beam. The most touching part was the end, with the roll call.

I must say, I'll miss having new episodes of justice league, but it was time to move on. Hopefully, Timm and his crew will break new ground again in the future. JLU was a great cartoon

I would have settled for an hour long episode. I knew the cancellation of the series was close when they put it at 10:30 pm on a Saturday night.

I also liked the episode, had some great moments. "Oh c'mon, it's Lex flippin' Luthor!" is destined to be one of the series best remembered lines. But as a two-part finale, it felt rushed and let some things be unexplained. For instance, what happened to Grodd and the other villains in space who didn't come back with Sinestro? I guess they're dead?

Also, as a finale to the series, last season's finale, from Clash to Divided We Fall (and Epilogue to boot) was so incredible and even felt more like they were ending the series that I was sure I'd be underwhelmed no matter what they did this time around. Still liked it a lot, though.

I think there's still juice in the tank...

there's far too much potential to let it just go, there's bound to be some justice league releases that tie up some of these loose ends better.

Wow, the JLU forums are gone and these threads have been merged with "MISC. TV SERIES". Guess that is better than the fate of the old X-MEN: EVOLUTION board (it got blipped out), but it really made me feel sad to see that happen.

To comment, I agree with Jaydawg and a few of you that an additional episode to "ALIVE/DESTROYER" would have enhanced the story. It could have allowed many of the B and C-Listers to actually get in some final dialogue to go along with their "blink and miss" cameos. The possibilities are endless. It also would have allowed for more of Darkseid's minions to get in brawls, and thus not feel as monotanous as endless waves of Para-Demons.

Still, the main problem would have remained; I wanted to see the heroes beat Darkseid, not Luthor. This was Luthor's season, and shot at redemption after YEARS of either being "subtly manipulated" by Brainiac or obsessed with remerging with Brainiac. Maybe this ending was meant to show that even Luthor could redeem himself. Still, I would have rather seen the heoes get the win; without that, it can't match Flash taking on Lexiac in "DIVIDED WE FALL". Plus, Lexiac was a new villian (sort of); Darkseid has been involved in several major storylines before and had 2 previous brawls with Superman ("Legacy" and "Twilight"), both of them great and satisfying. This one was better in the duration but not as fulfilling in the end. Granted, much like I'll always remember "Dead Reckoning" for "The episode where they turned into gorillas", DESTROYER will always be remembered for "Super-Punch" and the final minute or so, which is enjoyable.

Despite all that, though, I stand by my statement earlier; "DESTROYER" is a solid B+, whereas last season ended on an A+. While that is worth noting, I won't spend the last moments of JLU bashing it. I surely enjoyed it a lot better than the ending for TEEN TITANS.

Should we make an Offical JLU Thread or something for all and anything JLU?

I think we should, im suprised they got rid of the juctice league forums & the teen titans forums so quickly:eek: , especially when thier is a dtv coming up for TEEN TITANS. they should of left the teen titans thread & JLU thread alone, beacuse thier are more things to come.

I agree on TEEN TITANS, even though I'd stopped posting there. That DTV's due out this year, right?

JLU getting one seems inevitable, if even S:TAS can get a DTV some 6 years later when it is convient. Heck, MYSTERY OF THE BATWOMAN, a B:TNGA DTV, came out a good 4-5 years after THAT show'd been off the air. So As Wonder Woman said, "the adventure continues." We just may have to wait a bit for it.

We'll, I think we all hope that when the eventual JLU DTV comes out, Timm plays a part in it. These DTVs without him cant be described as other than average.

yes, sometime this year the TEEN TITANS DTV will be out. & i know a jlu DTV will be out soon, i say maybe a year or two. but as you quoted, we will definetly have to wait .

as good as i predict the dtv will be, it will be worth the wait.

i half agree on this one. mystery of the batwomen wasn't that bad IMO. but i like it how it was made. even though it wasn't as epic as MASK OF THE PHANTASM, it still had quality, that made it its own tall telling story.

i missed the show ,my sister and i had to move to our new apartment sooner than expected and didn't get cable back till yesterday

uppin........... this powerful post

Uppin this classic thread. This one of the few times batman's true potential was shown. He was fighting darkseid at lighspeed, dodging his omega beams which move lightspeed, saving superman, owning darkseid, owning darkseid's minions etc... As fast as superman is not even he can dodge the omega which batman was able to do with ease because his battle speed is light speed.

Dread did you every review Brainiac attacks?

Not yet. I planned on renting it, but the first 20 or so minutes I saw on CN were so abysmal that I'm not really rushing out to Blockbuster to spend $3-5 to watch something that I all but know is crappy (especially since its not really Timmverse related). I may eventually watch it for kicks, and then I'll post something long and amusing ripping its guts out.

just watched this episode again.

This shows why Batman is indeed the G.O.A.T. and unquestioned leader of the justice league.

If it wasn't for him and his heroics the earth would be destroyed and superman and the others dead.

Just a few highlights for those who forgot.

Batman single handedly dodged 1,000's of Darkside Omega beams traveling at light speed which indeed proves batman true speed and him holding back in fights.

Batman saves luthor when darkside pummeled him and threw him from the building.

Batman made the suggestion to have the legion of doom fight a long side the Justice league which was a big help in destroying the machines.

Batman saved superman's azz yet again at the end when darkside was nano seconds away from killing him

etc.. etc..

Great episode
