Since we already saw official footage, I guess its time for a thread like this.

My prediction: Rotten. Given who's attached its a no brainer.

I think it will likely get a rotten rating but surely, Hellboy already took the cake for the cbm of 2019 with the worst rt rating. Dark PhoeniX can't be that bad?

Purely from a critical standpoint (as in your traditional film critic) I think it might actually do well.

You have a female protagonist that becomes the antagonist (aswell as another female antagonist in Chastain).
With the two recent female superheroes films (WW and Cap Marv) they have always been strong and extremely powerful, but they never question or fear their power. With Jean we will see her struggle with that power.

There is also the Metaphor of addiction and mental illness. And on top of that there is family drama aspects.

I think critics will almost certainly spot, and acknowledge, the similarities to X3. That's likely to mean points are deducted.

Other reaction will depend largely on how convincing Sophie Turner is with her acting.

    85-91% fresh.

Dark Phoenix will close the Fox-Men on a high note. Dark Phoenix will be the first superhero film to win an Oscar for Best Picture and Sophie Turner will be nominated for best actress.

This movie shall be X-traordinary and shall prove all the naysayers wrong.

    And the Earth is flat.

    Critics hates X-Men and Fox.

So, I'm thinking it'll be Rotten. With all the errors I did love X-Men Apocalypse and I still don't get why got Rotten.

some critics are already with the note for this movie ready since last year
that youtuber that I forgot the name, since the last year twisted for the film to be canceled for sure will not give fresh for that film
there are many "professional bloggers" who rate movies on rotten tomatoes, bloggers who are attacking this movie for months, so do not expect a "fresh" for it,I do not expect fairness from many critics with this film
we're probably going to get a lot of reviews comparing the movie with EG and how they want to see xmen on the MCU soon.

I doubt it would be received better by the critics without Singer. Singer's last film, Bohemian Rhapsody was almost rotten despite being enjoyable. But we'll see.

Yeah their already is a negative bandwagon for this film that the media seems to be jumping on so I can see it getting mixed reviews. I can't imagine it will be as low as Apocalypse though which didn't deserve AS low as it got. Would be a nice surprise if it does well.

    around 70% is my guess.
some critics will like it, while others wont, so the ratings will be mixed, but maybe not as much as Apocalypse, since that movie had too many characters, too many subplots, and this one is an iconic story, so maybe old time x-men fans critics will appreciated the improvements this time.

At the risk of sounding incredibly pretentious, I find my feelings are pretty well reflected in critic reviews. Audience reviews are far less reliable and often massively skewed by some weird agenda or general stupidity. Take 'Us' for example. For every critic praising its unsettling tone, wry humour and bizarre story, there is a 1 star review from an idiot saying it's rubbish because he saw a twist coming. Look no further than the X-Men franchise for indication of critics being on-point. The good films are very well reviewed. The bad ones are not.

As far as Dark Phoenix goes, I'm really not sure. I would guess it'll land somewhere in the middle, but I'll be optimistic lean to toward positive. 66%

70% would be a reasonable guess to me, if Kinberg's films that he co wrote are 50% fresh and 50% rotten as a whole but nope. He has two fresh films where he is credited as a writer and the other 7 films are rotten. X3/Mr. and Mrs. Smith are almost fresh but still.

I hope below 50%. Anything above 50% and a sizeable portion of the MCU fandom will seethe with bitter anger.

Does it matter? Do people still take anything Rotten Tomatoes does seriously?
