Feels like an April Fools headline. The fact that JMS is doing it gives me some hope but this is such a weird match.

I am very conflicted by this. Babylon 5 is my favorite show of all time. I just don't see how they can replace the actors that were in the original. Especially Peter Jurasik, Andreas Katsulas and Mira Furlan.
I hope JMS has absolute control over this. If that is the case i am looking forward to this.

In the end if this sucks i will always have the original but i hope it will be as good.

Take this over more super hero shows.

Here's the synopsis that's taken from the site:

"...the reboot revolves around John Sheridan, an Earthforce officer with a mysterious background, who is assigned to Babylon 5, a five-mile-long space station in neutral space, a port of call for travelers, smugglers, corporate explorers and alien diplomats at a time of uneasy peace and the constant threat of war. His arrival triggers a destiny beyond anything he could have imagined, as an exploratory Earth company accidentally triggers a conflict with a civilization a million years ahead of us, putting Sheridan and the rest of the B5 crew in the line of fire as the last, best hope for the survival of the human race."

You can't take the stench of CW away from it.
:funny: I can tell you're a fan of theirs.

Seriously though, I think the director, writers, and actors have more to do with the quality than does who is funding it; as long as they are able to carry out their vision without undue interference. That's a big IF, but it does happen.

I'm mentally prepared for the eventual downfall of Stargirl and Superman And Lois.

Well, if a network doesn't pay enough for people who can actual direct, write and act, but only cares about pretty faces that can attract young audiences and known IPs, I can see how that can be a problem. Straczynski's name gives some assurance, but I doubt the rest of the tools they provide him with are of similar quality. I think I haven't seen a thing I really liked in this channel since it was called WB.

I liked maybe the first few episodes of SG, but that wore off quickly. I didn’t like maybe the first couple of episodes of S&L, but it’s kinda grown on me. They’ve done a few shows I liked, but they kinda petered out.

Stargirl this season has been really good and episode 6 had one of the greatest fight scenes in comicbook tv show history.

I haven't been watching it because I thought it started to kinda suck, but I'll check it out. Thanks for the update.

The CGI should at least be better than in the original show... :)

I'm totally up for a B5 reboot, but I'm sceptical about it being on the CW.

This seems like the type of show that would fit better on Syfy channel. The CW is an odd choice but I do commend them for branching out a bit into other genres than superhero or teen soaps. S&L season 1 was really good but I expect the quality to dip as the series goes on. Stargirl season 2 is definitely darker than the previous season but I feel like it lost its charm a bit. I pretty much hate the Arrowverse now and hope it dies off…

Eh, CW is still a better budget relatively than the original, and they have some good shows like Superman & Lois and Legends of Tomorrow. I would say the much bigger concern is whether they can get a good enough cast.

And to be frank, I don't think this needs prestige level budget. Frankly, doesn't seem to have made Discovery or Picard much better.

Build some solid sets, invest in makeup, and you should be good to go.

Yeah whenever something is on the CW, it’s pretty much a no for me. Even when they try to do something that looks a little more professional like Superman and Lois, it still doesn’t feel like it has the budget or talent that it needs to. I’m not a B5 fan but I know a lot of people who are and I feel bad that this is the reboot that they are getting.

I'm quite intrigued by this, seeing that it'll be JMS with full creative control. I read JMS twitter trend, it seems to me that it'll be a different show with similarity only in name only like John Sheridan, Shadow, Vorlon, essentially like Battlestar Galactica as he mentioned.

It'll be a different production company & teams from those that usually did the CW shows in Vancouver. IIRC, JMS will be using WB's production company since Babylon 5 is a WB owned IP mainly the TV production rights. I think that JMS owns the movie rights.
