It says a lot when your world class midfield with Rice and Bellingham get dominated by a Hojbjerg-Eriksen midfield - two players who can't even get a start for their clubs. Southgate is painfully mediocre as a manager sadly and it surprises me some people think England will win the tournament.

England have been woeful these opening few games, a half decent team would have beaten them comfortably.

I don't know why Southgate is trying so badly for force TAA into the starting lineup. He's a RB, sadly for him, Kyle Walker exists & is simply a more well rounded better player, just because he occasionally drifts into CM at Liverpool in games, doesn't make him a CM. As the pundits on TV said, it's not down to TAA as to why England have been so poor, lack of mobility up front that only existed tonight after Southgate had made changes doesn't help either.. but TAA isn't up to playing as a starting central midfielder against even this sort of 2nd tier of teams in the competition, let alone the likes of Spain, Germany, France etc.

Beating Slovenia isn't a given with performances like that.

On a side note, whoever at Manchester United suggested & was entertaining that donut Southgate as a potential manager of the club should already be fired.

Could only score from an own goal but they definitely deserved the victory and will be one of the teams to beat. They have a good energetic press (something severely lacking from England) and 2 great young creative wide players in Williams and Yamal.

Should have won the game by 3 or 4, created several great chances but dont have a clinical finisher as such.
