⚽ Football (Soccer)

It's weird that the "big" game of Spurs - Man Utd in context this season is about the same as Crystal Palace - Everton yesterday.

Don't have that many half time thoughts aside from Garnacho having a shocker missing that sitter and instead of 1-1 we're down 1-0 and Spurs have been better.

Two very poor sides here. Neither really looks good enough to do anything, to think this could be the Europa league final as well. Doesnt say much for the rest.

Spurs win. Some respite for Postecoglu and more pain for Amorim. I want to see these managers survive the summer somehow and see what they can do with a fully fit squad and some reinforcements.

I can't remember a side, let alone a Manchester United one, waste so many good chances.

Didn't actually perform that badly today in relation to our form all year, we created half a dozen good chances that drew either good saves or bad misses as well as a few other half chances. Spurs had some chances also but it's supremely worrying how often our forwards are misfiring.

We are creating & have done all season even under EtH, we just cannot do the all important thing & actually finish the chances we are creating. Even a minor improvement to our overall conversion ratio would see an immediate improvement in terms of results.

I am struggling to see a scenario in which we even surpass the 40 point mark this season with our general erratic form even when at full strength, combined with our current injury woes & 40 points is typically what you need to guarantee survival, if you are below that 40 points, you could still be relegated. I was just looking in recent years 34-36 points has seen teams relegated. We aren't safe at all currently, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that teams beneath us put together a run of 2 or 3 games without defeat & next thing you know they're right on us.

I see there are calls already for Amorim to get the sack which just seems crazy when he hasnt even been able to sign a player yet, even ETH got £400m+ to blow on this shower of **** which has been useless all season, blaming him seems odd but thats football I guess.

Going to be a sad old trudge to the end of the season now either way, dont think we are going to break out the champagne football at any stage, these players just arent good enough at the basics of passing, shooting, defending so add zero confidence ontop of that and it isnt going to be good. Cant get to the summer fast enough.

I'm not a Man Utd fan, very far from it, but I cannot understand how a club, any club, can have so much inherent and internal core 'rot' seep through it, sustained for so long.

I absolutely appreciate Ferguson went at a time he knew the team were on the slope downwards and the leniency he and his teams received from the referees during his reign has long gone, so they can't count on that any longer, but the quality & standards have dropped SO low now, from an outsider's POV, its baffling.

Happy for any United supporters for fill me in on the narrative....

Bloody ell, Mbappe scored already in the Real City game as City's defence can't deal with a ball over the top.

Mbappe again, nice finish. Real 2-0, 5-2 on aggregate now.

Madrid tearing City apart at the moment, Mbappe finding his feet these days with two great finishes. City with lots to do and no Haaland.

Mbappe gets his hat trick, clinical. That should be game.

City can't have any complaints, Madrid were comfortably the better side over the 2 legs & the score pretty much reflected that & City have been off the pace for the last 2 or 3 months in all competitions since that losing streak.

Real are back when the CL knockout rounds start it seems, and Mbappe is also getting going there. It might work with him up front allowing Vinicius to stay in his best position and also with Rodrygo not being sacrificed. The current lineup seems more balanced. I don’t think anyone gave City a hope until that 4-0 tonking of Newcastle, but City still haven’t got any consistency. They aren’t the same team without Rodri and some of their best players are getting past their peak.

Liverpool and Villa drew last night as well 2-2. A couple more points dropped by Liverpool when they could go 10 points clear had they won, still seems like too big a gap for Arsenal to close at the moment though.

All the English sides on the same side of the draw for the CL along with Madrid and PSG, maybe one might make it but going to be tough for all of them it seems. Madrid derby looks like the biggest game of the round.

United 2-0 down already at Everton, could end up anything this, we look shot to pieces already.

I'm not even mad or surprised, I had a strong gut feeling going into this game that it would be a loss. Everton are hard working, they have a system they play well in and they do all the basics right that we get wrong.

No its got to the point where there are just no words left to say.

2-1 Bruno with a lovely free kick to give us something in this game, twenty minutes left.

2-2!! Ugarte with another great finish on the volley to level it. Game very much on now.

Penalty to Everton in the last minute.

Nope VAR rules it out.

Finished 2-2 after a crazy end to the game. Take a point after that first half. Its not much but it helps a bit at least.

Arsenal blow it at home against West Ham. They won’t have the bite and consistency to challenge Liverpool.

A Bournemouth loss at home to Wolves keeps us in the CL race for now ahead of our match against Nottingham Forest.

Spurs manage to get another win, 4-1 away to Ipswich.
