🇷🇺🇺🇦 Discussion: Relations with Russia and the war in Ukraine

I did not expect the sheer amount of horrific stuff the Russian army was going to do on the retreat.

Spoilered for more war crimes

As always, source is Ukranian, so some salt is warranted, but seeing the withdrawal from Kyiv, yeah, believable
I saw someone mention on the Ukraine reddit page that a video is going around of Russians murdering a father and walking the wife and daughter into the woods. Its going to take generations for Ukraine to heal from these scars.

Some pretty horrific images coming out of Bucha. Russia has an odd way of treating “their” people. Forgiveness is a long, long way away.

Putin needs to be put on trial. And Lavrov and the rest of his minions too.

If what we’re seeing is in anyway accurate, I can’t disagree with what you’re saying. I was completely appalled by what I saw. It literally made me sick to my stomach. I wish I could un see it

Viktor Orban, Hungary's authoritarian leader, calls Zelensky an 'opponent' after winning reelection | CNN

Russia's literally running an ethnic cleansing program against the Ukrainians and their identity by forced removals, refugees, mass civilian deaths, rape and pillaging, destruction of historical landmarks and books and literature, and so on, so I don't blame them for really hating the Russians now. Russian leader Vladolf Putler gave his speech before the war that he considers them non-entities, so this is what the Russians carry out. And it's not like they've been treating Russian speakers in eastern Ukraine any better, they've born the brunt of their malice since that is where the Russians have spent a lot of effort on.

The Ukrainians know that is what they'll continue to live under for years if not decades in the future if they lose or reach certain types of deals with the Russians where the Russians stay in their borders.

Putin's goal wasn't just to replace the government in Kyiv, but to erase the Ukrainian identity from the Earth.

Warrants should be issued for the Russian Generals in Ukraine as well.

Its time for Twitter to ban all Russian government accounts. They shouldn't be helping Russia wage an illegal war, spread propaganda, and aid this genocide.

Everything seems to be getting worse, or maybe they are finding more evidence of what has happened as Russia retreats from certain areas. The horrors of war being exposed.

This is Tucker and his father’s buddy.
Russia’s actions have destabilised international relations further than we thought possible in 2022 and this guy just makes things worse. It’s not good news when an EU and NATO country are electing a leader like this with a strong majority.

People votes for selfish reasons. Some people are exempted from income taxes in Hungary. So of course they vote for Orban

So ALL Ukrainians are Nazis now.
Such dangerous language used there. No wonder soldiers commit atrocities on civilians too if they are influenced by words like this.

I've heard this story over and over again: Ukrainians with relatives in Russia who are completely brainwashed.

Not so different from what happens to Fox viewers in the United States: they create and reside in an alternate reality that is not reality.

A cousin of mine told me the other day that it was America's fault that the Ukrainians were being invaded and that the Ukrainians deserved it. The Right in this country is as brainwashed as the average Russian citizen. Its a shame they won't move to Russia and stop inflicting their madness on the rest of us.

Its kind of the narrative China goes with...that the EU is to blame for Russia attacking Ukraine.
Because we dared to give every democratic country the chance to become part of the EU, to prosper and grow.

I mean understandable that its coming from China, but its always weird hearing The Right in America defend what russia does.
The part of the American country that is so for freedom and all, being okay with a Dictator waging War on a innocent country that just wanted freedom for itself and its people.
Totally bonkers.

Anyway, im currently a bit taken back at how much people throw at my country.
I know Ukraine needs to do everything in their power to gather support and help, they fight for their survival...but blaming Germany for the War is insane.
Joining the NATO requires to met certain criterias, and at the time Ukraine hasnt met them...we couldnt have expected Russia to attack them.
Was it dumb to trust russia? Sure as hell and now we face the consequences and our hands are pretty tied, we look pretty dumb on many things currently.
But at the time, it wasnt a crime to say no to Ukraine joining the NATO.
We do what we can to help considering the situation we are in, i dont expect people to thank my country or praise us for what we do...but there is also no need to kick us to the ground this much.
