The best moment in that video comes around 1:20. Never get tired of it. :)

Whoever put that carpet there on the ice was likely buried in an unmarked grave inside 48 hours.

The loss of the Moskva is more than just prestige. It was a major component of Russian anti-air capabilities.
Yep. Putin will be mourning this loss more than he would for any human.

Is this dude a bit late to the party?

As I understand things, it served as their command center. Funny how their other ships drew back after the "fire" broke out on their flagship. Maybe they were afraid the "fire" would spread to the other ships? LOL

I must be missing something. If Ukraine fights back after being attacked, Russia is going to turn their "special operation" into a war? Oh dear.....that would be awful. Maybe Ukraine ought to just knock that stuff off.

Aha, so what is Russia celebrating then every 9th may?
What is their Big Day every year then about?

I still get stunned at how truly ****ty russians seem to be when it comes to making **** up.

The thing is that this isn't uniquely Russian. While different press viewpoints in the US don't generally land you in prison or censored, think of some of the stuff Trump said that was believed by a large segment of society.

Americans are definitely in no position to judge the willingness of foreigners to buy their leaders BS propaganda. As a lad I remember reading about Nazi Germany in school and being unable to understand how a large percentage of the citizenry of an industrialized country could be snowed by the ravings of a sadistic, fascist lunatic. After living through the Trump presidency it makes perfect sense.

Yes. In the US, we, currently at least, have a political structure that is clearly more open than anything in Nazi Germany, Russia, China, etc. What that looks like in the next 3 to 10 years is not to be taken for granted. I was listening to someone who said straight up that he didn't believe in democracy. When asked why he participated in democratic processes, he said it was because he could advance his political agenda through a democratic process. The idea that there are people out there who are outright autocrats perverting a system meant to (but really doesn't) serve everyone is a chilling thought.

This is why I separate economic from political in the way I think about different societies.

What's the issue? The one doesn't invalidate the other. Lots of parents are proud about military action and their child's service until their baby dies far away from home. Its made even worse when they have no answers or a body to bury.

I’m sure the genocidal maniac is very proud of them.
