🇷🇺🇺🇦 Discussion: Relations with Russia and the war in Ukraine

That man looks like and is a moron.

Regardless, it is very possible that Western countries will not survive the end of White Supremacy / colonialism.

If I was 19 and more mentally fluid I would seriously consider moving internationally, to get out of the West. One friend moved to Botswana. The 21st century will witness far more vibrancy in the rest of the world.
I'm not sure where you live, but in spite of your age and lack of mental fluidity, I think you should seriously reconsider your reluctance to move; happiness is important. I'm sure you could find plenty of people who would be happy to provide you with financial assistance for travel expenses.

No. Moving is hard and gets harder as you age. You know how every American election we hear from people saying they're moving to Canada? It's just hot air. There's a reason none of those people go anywhere. And that's Canada, a relatively easy country to move to.

I'm in my 40s, and am responsible for children and step children. The latter have a deadbeat dad who walked away at no consequence to himself because our governments largely ignore crime that affects civilians. I suspect they actually like it.

It breaks my heart to see the incompetent leadership of the Western countries plundering our nations into oblivion, which includes stupid, genocidal wars like Iraq, Libya, Syria, Ukraine, Gaza, etc, the total mismanagement of COVID, crumbling infrastructure, etc. People die so that rich people can get richer.

The Russian economy is actually doing quite well, even the IMF, a Western institution, is projecting real GDP growth of 2.6%. The sanctions from the West have been a godsend.

Not really. While the Western liberal democracies have their problems and democracy is facing an existential threat, geography all but guarantees the Western nations are going to come out of the 21st century ahead.

Sadly, this is because developed nations like the Western liberal democracies and Japan dominate the cooler, temperate parts of the globe and developing nations in equatorial places like Africa and India are going to feel the worst of climate change as temperatures there becomes unlivable and cause drought and famine. So yeah, colonialism and industrialization are going to **** over people of colour for a long, long time to come.

Putin won't be happy.

I wonder how many people spot these inconsistencies from our Western corporate media.

What inconsistencies? Russia has been losing more personal than Ukraine for a long time. I mean, is it really surprising when you are sending untrained prisoners into the front line? Now, I'm sure Zelensky has lowballed the Ukranian losses, its what you do in war.

I mean sure -- if you strictly listen to and believe in Western corporate media*. You might then also believe that Saddam had WMDs and that Navalny was a leader of the opposition in Russia. But as that apparatus lies more and more, its audience and reach dwindles further and further over time. We no longer have a Walter Cronkite or even a 2005-level John Stewart.

There's going to be a (further) loss of trust when the war ends, as people have been told non stop that Ukraine was winning, retaking territory, that Russia was a paper tiger with an inept military and subpar equipment that would fold, its economy is crap and they're recycling microchips from washing machines, etc.

* In reality, Ukrainian losses are far higher and have been for some time.

Here's an article from an Indian diplomat discussing how the Western sanctions are enabling greater economic integration in Asia.

I can believe the Russian numbers easily, but the Ukraine deaths havevto be close to the same. Over 100, 000 at least. No way only 31,000.

I left one thing unanswered.

Part of the reason Russia uses convicts is to get around laws (sound familiar?). Conscript soldiers, unlike private military contractors such as Wagner, can be used for very specific purposes such as defending the motherland and in cases where there's a declaration of war. There was no declaration of war on Ukraine/NATO, it's legally a special military operation, so they were limited to using private military contractors, as well as militias such as the Chechens, the Donetsk militia, and Lugansk militia as seen in the beginning of the SMO.

That is no longer an issue. They now have a large volunteer army (something like 30,000/month), and legally most of the fighting is taking place in Russia since they annexed four oblasts.

Wagner remains active in many parts of Africa, where conscripts cannot be sent. Africa is arguably a major theater in these early stages of world war III, with France recently being kicked out of Niger and Gabon. That said, our media largely ignores it.

Ukraine could use the help, but it could also escalate things.
It wont because Macron knows that not enough will side with him on that.
He says this because France hasnt really pulled its weight as much and this way he can go "See, France was willing to help more".

We dont need secret files to know that he rigged them for years.
That man literally put Political Opponents in Jail...and has them thrown out of Windows.
