Film 📽️ THE CINEMA LOUNGE

General Film
Maher had a drunk and very open Tarantino and NEVER asked him what happened to his final film, never asked him if he was working on another film etc…sweet Lawd. I also find it funny how he basically called all them scoopers bunch of liars, he just doesn’t care enough to have his team dismiss all them casting rumors. Eh.

Lawd @ bald @Kane52630 using clickbait on QT.

Mmmm, maybe my Paramount+ subscription won't just be used for Star Trek.

The scenario that QT describes (in the Club Random podcast) would very likely have avoided the tragedy on the Rust set. My understanding is that the scene in question was a camera rehearsal in which Baldwin was to practice with an unloaded weapon. And the AD actually announced he has handing the actor a “cold gun” (i.e., it was presumed unloaded). But if Baldwin had merely done a quick inspection, then surely he would have noticed rounds in the chambers.

OTOH… What if they were actually filming a scene involving the discharge of a gun (a ubiquitous situation in many westerns)? In that case, the actor gets a “hot gun” — loaded with blanks. But is he then supposed to empty his weapon and inspect each “bullet” to ensure none is a live round? And what if the gun is a pistol or rifle with an ammo clip? Is the actor supposed to disassemble the clip and inspect each round? And would a director be willing to wait patiently while the actor (“10% responsible for gun safety on a movie set”) does his due diligence?

Kinds of Kindness

I’ve said this before, but I truly believe if he weren’t directing movies, he’d be some kind of prolific serial killer. Tis’ also quite freaky and artistically beautiful to see how his universe is perfect for Dafoe. Stone clearly trust him 1000%, as she always does things in his flicks that she don’t do in others. Jesse Plemons is the mvp for most of the stories here, but Margaret Qualley has put a spell on me for a while now. She is simply beautiful and fearless, while looking like an angelic-demon.

One of the best of the year for me.

I just popped in here to say Netflix’s The Deliverance is the Best Film of 2024. It addresses religion, spiritual warfare and the occult all with racial disparity as a backdrop.

And they need to give Glenn Close her damn Oscar finally.

That’s all.

Y'know, I always forget that she hasn't won an Oscar. I keep thinking she won back in the '80s. So I guess it's appropriate that Amy Adams played her daughter in that JD Vance movie. :o

Ha!

The fact that she, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Pfeiffer and Angela Bassett all never won competitive Oscars yet makes me feel some type of way.

Bassett losing last year still pisses me off. If she was going to lose to anyone from Everything Everywhere All At Once it should have been Stephanie Hsu, not Jamie Lee Curtis (much as I love JLC).

Exactly.

And Drizzy you and your damn profile pics.

Terminator Zero

Damn. It makes me happy to finally have some good Terminator content. Tis been 99 years or so. I also immediately thought of MEW for the female lead in a live action version, but I’m biased.

Heh, I never thought the guy in funny games was going to be an auteur director and most likely be a front runner for best director at the Oscars now. Not in my bingo card at all. Can’t wait to see it from my home on streaming. Eh.

Best roommates (omg they were roommates) are back. And with it getting a US premiere at the end of the month, hopeful I will be able to get it before the end of the year.
