Film 📽️ THE CINEMA LOUNGE

General Film
Apart from the farfetched ending stemming from the pointless reason as to why Chatwin's character would want to run into an active combat zone in the first place, it's a solid movie. The tripod horn is one of the most terrifying sound effects put to film so I give it extra credit for that alone.
One of the most bizarre cop out endings in a movie ever imo haha

This being the least amount of flicks I've seen. I still feel confident enough to rank my best 10 of the year. Plenty of films still unseen, no doubt, but it is what it is. Eh.

The Killer
Poor Things
May December
Barbie
Passages
When Evil Lurks
Oppenheimer
El Conde
MI Dead Reckoning
The Origin of Evil

Also want to throw out Kiss Kiss Bang Bang as a top tier holiday movie. Probably my favorite RDJ movie

Saltburn

Basically an inferior remake to 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' for the new generation, which is too damn lazy/doesn't care for older movies. I doubt they will care for this one either. Eh, too long and predictable. Rosamund Pike is great tho.

7/10

Trying to think what'll be my first movie of 2024. Probably will be the Iron Claw...but don't know if I want a tearjerker as the first one haha.

Already got that with Godzilla Minus One

Phantom Thread

This has now become my favorite PTA flick. I don't know what it is about it. Tis' also a great rewatch during Christmas eve.

So I ended up having an unplanned triple feature today: Poor Things, Saltburn, and Bottoms. It wasn't planned that way but I guess the theme was horniness. :o

I liked all three to various degrees but I wasn't too shocked that Bottoms ended up being the tamest of the three.

I'm just imagining what clip they'll use for Poor Things during awards season. lol

Checking out my stats... I'm honestly not surprised that it's Sam Jackson and Nic Cage battling it out for my most-watched actor.

John Goodman really has 40 films? I don't know why but that's shocking to me.

He's been in a lot of smaller projects or projects where he's in it for a few scenes. And he's done voicework on top of that.

2004 officially being 20 years ago is tough to wrap my head around.
