Edit I don’t know WTH a Hibiki is, but I get the feeling it’s in my top 10.

Just looked up Hibiki whiskey. A friend of mine collects Japanese whiskey and hides it when I ever come over to visit. The last time I got actually drunk was when I was visiting him in San Francisco and we walked from the Financial to the Mission District. The morning after made it not worth it, but the dude definitely knows the bars in the city.

edit: I’m having some vague recollection about a conversation that we might’ve had about Japanese whiskey awhile back. I think I might’ve ignored your suggestions and continued buying $12 bottles of wine.

You should at least have a bottle of hibiki. Worth the price.

I think you were telling me about some whiskey that was maybe 80 bones or something like that. Neural synapses sometimes take awhile.

That's the one, if you can find it. Tis' kinda limited in my area, but you can stop here and be perfectly fine. If you go down the rabbit hole of japanese whiskey like I did, it got expensive fast and your beautifully stuck with bottles reserved for ''special occasions' and whatnot, but my go to reach is always hibiki.

Every day should be a special occasion. I have a key to his house and every time he knows I'm coming, he tells me to stay away from his stash. Some of that S*** just "looks" expensive and I don't get drunk enough anymore to not care.

Funny story. One time, a long, long time ago, we went out to 99 bottles and several other joints during the day and showed up at a happy hour at UC Santa Cruz. His Gf at the time evidently knew how to find him around 4PM and showed up. She gave him massive S*** and demanded to know why he didn't meet up with her earlier as he had, evidently, promised. His answer was classic...Well, I didn't know I was going to get so drunk....surprisingly, it didn't go over very well.
