10 Things I Hate About You...The TV Series

Just found this today. I don't know how i feel about this. I was a huge fan of the film but i feel that this may go the way of the Clueless TV Show which really wasnt all that great. From the description it would seem that this is maybe a prequel of sorts to the film or takes place during it ....i dunno....discuss.

ABC Family has ordered a half-hour television pilot based on the 1999 teen comedy 10 Things I Hate About You, which starred Julie Stiles, Heath Ledger and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Many teenagers don’t realize that the film was actually a modern day tetelling of William Shakespeare’s Taming Of The Shrew (hence the film’s title - 10 Things I hate About You). Gil Junger, who filmed the original 1999 film will also helm the pilot.
The series will focus more on sisters Kate and Bianca Stratford facing their new high school enviorment. Whatever that means. No word on if the series will continue to play off Shakespeare (I doubt it) or if Julie Stiles will have a cameo, or possibly a reoccurring role as a teacher or guidance councilor (not likely)? The whole thing sounds like a really bad idea. 10 Things is one of the few really good high school romantic comedies of the last ten years for a combination of different reasons, none of which will likely translate to the ABC Family television series.

I had an ideia like this years ago after watching the movie, but it never amounted to more than a fanfic concept... I'd be glad to see it made but no original cast = phail.

Ah, I first saw this film in the aftermath of Ledger's death with a few friends, as a bit of a memorial. I'm not usually into these kinds of films, but even I enjoyed it. I know a lot of people who are going to be unhappy about this...

dumb idea for a series though, but ABC Family doesn't have the same ratings that a network has to get so it will probably do decent.

Why bother calling it 10 Things I Hate About You? It sounds like a pretty generic teen drama and it's not like you're cashing on some huge cash cow by using the name, it's not like the movie was a huge success.

I actually did too, until it went to UPN and became an after school special.

It's not really a great idea when you create a show based on a movie that's a romantic comedy.

Holy Bump!

1. This show has been renewed(additional 10 eps).

2. I started watching this on Hulu recently and it's not bad. The little sister is annoying but meaningless, but I like the way the Kat character is played. I like her better than how Julia Stiles played it.
