Just yesterday our inside source gave us a tip that Microsoft Australia has told a store named Myer to prepare the store for a Black 360 with a 120GB hard drive in April. Well day 2 of product knowledge today (Brisbane, Australia) featured Microsoft themselves and it's now 100% official that the Black 360, (with black controller), 120gb hard drive and HDMI is due out in Australia for $749 AU in April. They will try to push this forward to late March to deter buyers from the March 23 PS3 launch. Hopefully we see this good news sometime in Europe and USA. Should you take it as a grain of salt or not, whats your thoughts?

*Update: Apparently, our source claims that there are photos of this unit floating around. We will try to procure them.

Interesting. I have some extra money floating around, so when this hits the US, I'll get it.

Translates to almost $600 in US currency. $581-ish.

I really don't need HDMI, as my TV goes to 1080i only. But it does have an extra post ready.

If they just released the hard drive by itself, which I'm assuming they will, then I'll just go with that

Thought you had a 360, why would u want another?

Thats damn cool tho. Microsoft is pulling out all the stops.

i hope this comes out in the states.

i'll just break my 360, return it to best buy via the warranty, and pay the difference. :yay:

I want to get a new 360. if this baby is more reliable and will last me till about 2011. before the PS4 and New Microsoft consoles come out.

The Internet is alive with rumors! Today we hear that Australia is getting a black Xbox 360 replete with 120GB hard drive and HMDI port this April, according to Gaming Website Gamers' Reports latest story. The Website recently asserted it is "100% official" that a black Xbox 360 with 120GB hard drive and an HDMI port is coming this April.

Naturally, Microsoft PR representatives have a different story. "We have not made any official announcements regarding any such product at this time. Obviously, were we to announce something like this, it would have to be in a blowout press event, rather than by confirming a rumor."

The truth? Microsoft has tried to beat a very similar rumor down for quite a while now. At CES 2007, actual images appeared online showing the HDMI port. While Microsoft hasn't made any official statements on the subject, the company certainly wants to compete with Sony's PS3 feature for feature. Last fall it released the $199 HD-DVD peripheral. It's finally making 1080p games, and Microsoft told IGN at CES that if there is enough demand for an HDMI port and a bigger hard drive, they'll deliver it.

The Xbox 360 is customizable enough to make such an upgrade easily possible, and images from CES all but confirmed the existence of this Xbox 360 version 2. The stickler issue, however, is what happens to the 10.4 million people who already own an Xbox 360? Buying another hard drive is moderately reasonable, but the only way to make HDMI happen on an Xbox 360 is to have an HDMI input. Hopefully, we will hear a "blowout" announcement about Microsoft's future plans for this product soon enough.

From IGN.com... MS isn't confirming it, but ISN'T denying it.

I'm guessing a big announcement in the near future.

Holy crap.

You're ignorant!

MS is being copied by Sony... online features... wireless controllers, etc.

How can a cpu be quiet? LOL xbox happy because microsux is copying the ps3. LOL how desperate is that ****?

Umm.. sorry to say but the PS3 is louder than the Xbox 360. Have a nice day, you idiot. :o

Also, you do know that seeing as the Xbox 360 was the first console to formally introduce HD quality picture, Sony would be copying Microsoft with their console, right? It's okay to be a dunce, no one will make fun of you.

the fan attatched to the CPU makes noise, the new CPU has a quiter fan that actually cools the system more...so you know, served, sick burn, etc etc. :o

Ummm. Hello! Sony is full HD. Microsoft's HD is not really HD. Moron.

EXPLAIN why Sony doesn't pack-in component cables for HD gaming in their PS3's?

I edited it for grammar purposes.

No, you said the cpu was quiter :O

it's not my fault you're too stupid to realize what I meant. The fan is attatched to the cpu, everyone with a rudimentary knowledge of computers and video game systems knows this. You are either a troll, an idiot, or a sony fanboy with no life and nothing better to do than troll the microsoft forums. Either way, your fault, not mine.

He's picking a fight he KNOW he can't win. You don't mess with the bull without getting the horns.

Ummm. hello! Sony are full HD. microsofts hd is not really hd. Moron.

I'm sorry, Mr. Resolution Specialist. Since you seemingly know so much about HD resolutions, I guess it would be common knowledge that HD quality image starts at 720p. It would also be within your comprehension that the jump between 720p and 1080p is so miniscule that it can barely be seen by the human eye? :o

Edit -- BUT what about the people that don't have HDTV's with HDMI?

:whatever:

because they want you to use hdmi. hdmi is betteer than components.

Sony want you to get the most power out of the ps3.

Most people don't have HDMI hook-ups on their TVs. So apparently, they don't. Also, it'd be nice to point out that most people don't have a 1080p-capable TV as it is, so most people aren't going to get the "most power out of the PS3" as it is. :o

Router you obviously don't have a clue what you're talking about and are being an ignorant troll.

I'd consider returning my current XBox 360 to Costco and getting this one only if it were to have an installed HD DVD player... which would absolutely own.

Its always right after I get a system they bring out a new version or drop the price

how much will it be, if it looks cool in black i might get it

If its true Ill sell my old 360 and buy this new one.

You can’t keep a good rumor down. Just weeks after Microsoft stamped down talk that an HDMI-enabled Xbox 360, codenamed Zephyr, was in the works, the rumors are back. Retailers have confirmed that the new SKU is in their systems, set for a May 1 release for $479.99. In addition to the new video interface, the system would also pack a 120 GB hard drive into its nifty black exterior. Microsoft won’t officially confirm that such a configuration exists, but it’s interesting that so many retailers are wrong in the same way…

As always, we'll keep you posted.

And then for $42.95 at modchipstore.com, you can get a black case for your 360

And at xbox-modchips.com, for $28.45 you can get a wireless black controller case for the controller.

I'm sure the hard drives will come separately. I'd buy that only. I don't need HDMI for the input, component does just fine.
