Alright time for me to ask a couple legit questions.

Good cause that superman question had me worried ;)

What's your favorite scene from TDK?

So many to choose from! It's a tie between the "pencil trick" and the very end with Gordon's monologue.

When you were young what did you wanna be when you grew up?

As previously stated, a vet.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Yikes, I can barely plan a month ahead into the future!

I guess I would like to be pretty well established in legal practice by then. I'm also hoping to tick off a few of the places I would like to travel to; Australia, England and Ireland, and South-East Asia. Maybe I'd be ready for kids by then.

I also really really hope all my debt will be paid off. I suspect I will be paying off my student loans for a looooong time.

You gave some great answers

It's my pleasure :)

You know I'm going to pester you to play, right? :cwink:
Haha I'd be disappointed if you didn't. It should be interesting. With you and chase hosting two of the biggest schemers are out of the game. That leaves Movies...maybe Darth, Kipobe if they play. I don't think JewHob is coming back.

How do you think the cash prize thing is going to work?

How could you not have read Agatha Christie?! Are you a mystery-lover in general or do you just read Sherlock Holmes?

What division of law are you hoping to enter?

I know, I have been remiss! Christie is most definitely on my list of summer reading for next year.

I wouldn't call myself a great lover of the mystery genre. I prefer fantasy/adventure novels. But Holmes is great because he's a bit of superhero himself. Victorian Batman, if you will.

What division of law are you hoping to enter?

Something public interest oriented. I really like constitutional law, so I could see myself doing some form of constitutional litigation or civil rights stuff. I also know I really like working with clients, so I want something hands on. It's still hard to say though. Right now the stuff we are learning is the basic nuts and bolts of the law. Next year (assuming I pass this year) we get to branch out and do things more specific to our interests. I'm also hoping to get a job at a Legal Aid Clinic this summer. Clinics get to handle all types of law, so it would be a good way to get familiar with different areas of the law.

OOOoo and whoever it was that asked me what films I'm looking forward to in 2010; I totally forgot Inception. I am really looking forward to that. When Nolan gets to let loose and let his imagination go the results are usually  and the scale of the thing looks epic.

Looks like you're playing the game already :cwink:

Prize issue is still being worked out, so I'm not sure what all will be offered yet.

Are you from Canada, Dr. Watson?

Did you get your screen name from Sherlock Helms sidekick?

American Women or Canadian women?

American Beer, German beer, or Canadian beer?

Nascar or...what's in the secret box?

Been to any Raptors games? (NBA team in Toronto)

Been to any Montreal Expos games before MLB screwed them outta town?

I can't help but to think strategically.

Are you from Canada, Dr. Watson?

I am indeed.

Did you get your screen name from Sherlock Helms sidekick?
I don't know who Sherlock Helms is, but I did get my name from the Sherlock Holmes character ;)

American Women or Canadian women?
Hahaha, I'm a woman, I'm straight, and I don't differentiate on nationality. Just on cuteness. And I'd say its about even between American and Canadian boys.

American Beer, German beer, or Canadian beer?
Canadian Beer! Gotta be patriotic when it comes to alcohol :D

Nascar or...what's in the secret box?
Secret Box. Nascar is booooring.

Been to any Raptors games? (NBA team in Toronto)
No, I'm not a basketball person. I've been to many Leafs games though.

Been to any Montreal Expos games before MLB screwed them outta town?
nah, poor expos. I have seen the Canadiens in their home arena. That was one of hell of an experience. The fans are great there, even if we are mortal enemies :cmad:

And I've seen the Jays many times. I perfected the art of pissing off the outfielders :D

You are further proof that Canadians rule. Any thoughts on Canada's thriving indie rock scene?

Aw, thank you . Thoughts on the indie scene? It's awesome! I moved for school so it kind of sucks to be away from Toronto and Hamilton, which had such great scenes. However, where I am now is still a stop for most bands and there are some good bars to hang out in.

I've been really feeling Malajube lately, it's French Canadian indie rock :awesome:

and there's this band out of Vancouver, Said the Whale, that is good. They have a very Canadian sound, if that makes sense.

Do you like Chipotle?

I have never had Chipotle, but I really want to try it. I hear it's pretty awesome. They opened one in downtown Toronto, so when I go home from the holidays I'll probably try and get some.

That would be me.

And, yes, Inception looks fantastic.

Thinking strategy is never a bad thing

If you were to be in the next Survivor, what would be 1 change in the game dynamic you'd like to see? We have the rules and theme already established, but I'm curious to see what people are looking for.

Why no interest in corporate law?

Would you help a client because of the money they offer you or because you feel their cause to be just?

What is mens rea?

Was it a dream of yours to become a lawyer or just something you fell into?

Do you plan to go work for a big law firm or a small practice?

haha, cool, I couldn't remember.

Hmmmm, I think that every effort needs to be made to get new people into it. I find it gets a little tired when the same group of people play again and again because it gets fairly easy to predict who will align with who, etc. I know you don't have the greatest control over that, but it is something I would like to see.

Why no interest in corporate law?

I just have no interest in the type of environment that is found in corporate law. Not as much client one on one, and way longer hours. Plus going through financial stuff and business contracts is pretty much my idea of hell. Not that I wouldn't be doing that in other areas of law, but I just don't want it to be my primary focus area.

Would you help a client because of the money they offer you or because you feel their cause to be just?

I think anyone who needs legal representation deserves to get it, whether they can pay or not. If they can pay that's great. Like I was saying, I have student loans to pay off. But, I also really want to ensure that I can help people who don't have access to legal representation as readily as those who can afford to pay legal fees. And if someone had a cause I supported or thought there was a good case for, I would want to work with them. So, I guess I wouldn't really prefer one over the other persay.

What is mens rea?

A guilty mind, one of the necessary components that constitute a criminal act. It basically means that you have to have actual intent to do the crime in addition to the actus reus, the guilty act.

Was it a dream of yours to become a lawyer or just something you fell into?

Weirdly enough, both. In high school it was something I seriously considered. But then, for many reasons, I decided I didn't want to do it and that I wanted to be a journalist. But in university I got some hands on experience writing and realized it wasn't really for me; at least not as a way to pay the bills. I also got involved with various social justice initiatives in university which I really loved being involved in, so I knew I wanted to keep working in that general area. However, NGO work doesn't pay very well, at least not until you get to the high executive levels. At that point I realized law was a great avenue for me. I could meet my financial needs and pay back my loans, but I could also keep working on the projects I loved. So basically it came full circle.

Do you plan to go work for a big law firm or a small practice?

Small(er) practice. The big firms work thier articling students half to death, and I'm really not interested in that sort of lifestyle. I like my life and my friends and I want to have time to see them occasionally. Smaller firms have long hours as well, to be sure, but not quite so bad.

Just FYI, having worked with many of the big law firms such as Freshfields, Jones Day, Skadden Arps you are right in saying that they make you work long hourse as you are often required to pull all nighters but then again it is the road to big money.

Does the money not tempt you at all?

I won't lie, $1300 a week for articling at Ogilvy Renault or Cassels is pretty tempting :D. That said, aside from student loans, I don't really have a lot in my life that requires a lot of money. I don't have my license and I hate driving, so I won't be wanting any fancy cars or the like. I barely have enough stuff to fill up my teeny tiny apartment to begin with, so I also don't see myself investing in a big condo or house right away. Even if I wanted to I wouldn't want to do it until after my student loans were paid off, or till I had a husband/BF who could support some of the cost. The only two things I really want money for are to travel (which I don't do expensively as it is) and to help my parents out. They did a lot for me growing up and I would like to be able to support them whatever way I can after they retire.

I also want to do work I'm passionate about, and not just do it for the money. And I want my life, like I was saying. Could I pay off all my debt if I sucked it up at a big firm for two years? Most likely. But I want to be happy too. So, even if I end up at a smaller firm making $40 000 to start, I think I'd be happier, especially if I really like the work. And I know I can still pay back my debts in a reasonable amount of time as long as I'm smart with my money. I've lived off a lot less for a much longer time.

haha this answer was a lot longer then I meant it to be :D. I am keeping an open mind though. My mind could change in the next year. At the end of the day I'm going to do what's best for me.

Of the 'Big 3' reality shows (The Amazing Race, Big Brother, and Survivor) which one would you like to be a contestant on and why?

The Amazing Race!!! I like Survivor and all, but no way would I pass up the chance to get flown around the globe on a networks dime. Plus, I think I would do really well at some of those challenges. I was soooo mad at the second to last episode of this season. Half the teams took forever to spell FRANZ for chrissakes, and then they do the gollum challenge instead of the beer one. And the couple that did the beer one totally mucked it up. I would have been done way quicker.
