The chance to know everything in existance in the vastness of the universe, or the chance to own the world and everything in it?
I'd probably go for the knowledge*.

*And then be stoned to death 15 minutes later to protect other folk's regressive agendas.
Loss of eye sight, or eternal loneliness?
I guess you've got to lose the eye sight really, don't you... which is somewhat ironic because I spend most of the waking day wishing folk would leave me alone...

Do you speak from the Head or the Heart?
Like most people I guess I'd have to say a little of each. Because my heart tends to say that the right thing is to think s### through and form my own rational thoughts.

On a scale I guess I'd say I tip a little closer to what people consider the "head" part... but in reality if I really used my head I'd probably keep these things to myself.
Of the 7 deadly sins, which one would most likely send you to hell?
Alright, what are we talking again... Pride, Lust, Gluttony, Envy, Sloth, Wrath, Greed (had to look up the last  - damn greed)

Hmm... I eat a hell of a lot but I'm pretty restrained due to hard wiring by my family (I always let everyone else get theirs first at the buffet before I take my plate - carefully laid at the bottom of a bucket - up to the steam trays) so I guess its a toss-up between wrath and sloth.

EDIT: Since I was too lazy to decide between the two, I guess Sloth gets it.

What would you prefer, Lover or a Dreamer?
I'll go with lover I guess...

what position did you play in basketball?
Not the easiest question to answer.

Predominantly point guard, as in at my best that was my best position. But through high school I played every spot 5 through to 1 (yes... at 6'1"... or 6' since I've only added another inch since leaving).

These days I'd probably have to go play 2 or 3 since being out of the game for a while, until I trust my hands again with full ball handling duties.

Funny thing is I "tried out" for Hills basketball club on one of my more recent trips to Sydney, pretty much just to go out have a run and enjoy myself, in one of the trials I wound up on a legit sized 3 (The guy was 6'7 and the starter) and I was shutting him down at my meagre 6'1" height and post glandular fever hops... Overall I was pretty garbage in the try-out (my timing was off playing team defence of the most basic motion offence... was having trouble tracking guys on picks and my ego on the floor doesn't allow me to play that lazy "sag and then close-out" styled defence. But I had more than a dozen impressive plays, a number of threes (which is one thing they badly needed, perimeter shooters), stripped their starting point and also had a nice drive where I drew defence and gave a sweet feed to a guy who was a Development player for the Sydney Kings by the name of Dave Pollard who finished with a quality stuff.

So yeah... these days probably shooting guard or small forward til I work my way back. Was considering putting my name down for the Police and Fire games squad but I'm a bit short on cash at the moment.

most points you ever scored in a game?
Not a real straight forward question either... I had a maximimum score in a mixed social game in less than 5 minutes (which at that level doesn't really count for anything) which would have had me on track for a Wilt 100 mathematically.

But really I don't have a scorer's mentality. Right throughout high school my highest was 15 which I got a number of times and would tend to stop when I got there. I didn't like scoring the most for fear of being considered a ball hog since I was already pretty much everywhere.

Never high scored for my team over a season, finished third 2 years and second once (woeful team that year... I couldn't NOT score that year or we'd have been completely destroyed every game). I probably could have but I didn't like to... I would have easily led our school in assists though over those three years. They didn't keep the numbers but it would have been very comfortable.

career highlight while playing?
A few different things stand out I guess. I was at Forrestville for about 5 seconds (never played a game because I left again prior to the season's start) and trained against Brad Newley. Got my own shots in against him in training... sure he was too athletic for me to hold him down, but i kept getting my own back.

I put up 20 on Scottie Ninnis (current Adelaide 36ers Head Coach and had his jersey retired from his playing days, also represented Australia) and his old man team aptly named "Veterans" :oldrazz: and when he didn't cover me I was seeing double-teams (not advisable) and I pretty much dismantled his team.

I stuck a 3 directly in Darryl Pearce's face :awesome: (ex-Adelaide player, also had jersey retired, also played for Australia and was best known as a three point bomber) which was pretty much all I wanted from that game (his team was FAR better and more athletic than the one I was on and that game was pretty much over before it started).

Almost beaned Al Green (ex-36er, was drafted by the Suns many, many moons ago - has the single game scoring record in the NBL still to this day), who was coaching another school, in the head with a behind the back pass on a fastbreak (which I still justify as my teammate not bothering to reach his arm out... it was RIGHT THERE! :hehe:) in an intercoll game, which was our school's big rivalry of the year.

Also more than a handful of single plays... I could have comfortably filled a highlight reel if they recorded our games.

Oh... one more, I made the coach of St Peters (one of two biggest schools in the state - $-wise which then extended to sporting prowess as reputable players would drift there, even mid-school year, for some reason clearly not related to illegal sports scholarships...) cop a tech and have a time-out called on his behalf after inadvertantly asking if their scoreboard was broken when running past their bench after hitting a three. Fact was I didn't know we'd opened the game with an 18-0 run and assumed they must have scored at some point.

Such was my reputation for talking smack in other games... :dpf:

Do you collect anything?

If you could play anyone one on one, who would it be?

Do you collect anything?
I still have a great deal of old basketball cards, but I wouldn't say I actively collect them anymore... for a few seasons I made a habit of taking advantage of my good eye for scouting by picking up a few choice rookies each year. I only had a few REAL busts (Sam Clancy, Frank Williams) but generally I got good value by that method of picking them up early.

These days I'd say probably say DVDs. I get graphic novels... but I'm more a bargain bin, damaged goods guy than a customer who's looking for mint quality goods.
If you could play anyone one on one, who would it be?
Probably someone I'd think I'd have a hope in hell of holding my own against... Current NBA I don't know who that'd be... maybe Brevin Knight. He'd be a fairly one dimensional guy in a one on one environment.

I was tossing around the idea of a public access basketball show a few years back, was going to have a segment on it where I play a different pro each week and we calculate a rating system... Games first to 11 in 1s and 2s, I get possession after any score and you subtract my score from ten for the other guy's 'rating' and set up a Top Gear styled board with everyone on it.

So say I play some centre who absolutely destroys me 11-2, his score would be 10-2=8... 8/10

Who do I think it would be a great experience to play one on one, though?

Well, you have to go with Michael Jordan. You just have to.

I enjoy Chuck Palahniuk as well but I do find some of his work a bit repetitive. Ever read any bret easton ellis books?

You guys sure love you Tim Tams, Vegemite and Coopers ale :woot:
Do you think the Olympics was good for Australia?

Do you or have you played Oz rules football or Rugby?

Does Adelaide avoid all that crazy bushfires other parts of Australia get?

Do you like Kevin Rudd?

Australian Top Gear or British Top Gear which is better?

To be perfectly honest, no I haven't *makes mental note of the name* any specific recommendations? (Can I do that? Answer questions with question..? Bah! F*** you people, its my 15 minutes and I'll do what I want with them!)

You guys sure love you Tim Tams, Vegemite and Coopers ale :woot:
Damn straight... being from Adelaide means Coopers Pale Ale in particular!

Do you think the Olympics was good for Australia?
Yeah, I do. I think Sydney really knocked that thing out of the park and it was more than "good" for Australia. I'd say great.

Economically it brought millions of tourist dollars in. Its part of the reason I just can't understand the whole deal with some Americans being glad Chicago didn't get the Olympics. Unless they didn't have faith in themselves to be able to hold a decent spectacle then I just don't understand it.

Do you or have you played Oz rules football or Rugby?
My second cousin was the inaugural Club Champion of the Adelaide Crows Australian Rules football club (and for a while held the record for Brownlow medal votes amongst anyone from the club in a year as well) and my father used to play in the state comp as well... so I pretty much grew up inundated by the sport so much that I'd begun to look elsewhere by the time I was about twelve. I then started to follow the North Sydney Bears rugby league club and that sport lost me forever a few years later when the Superleague came about (picture NBA getting an ABA private league as competition and the ABA not surviving and the NBA taking back a few of the renegade teams) and sunk, eliminating both the new Adelaide team which came about through Superleague looking to expand into other major cities, and North Sydney being forced to merge with my most hated team the Manly Sea Eagles.

The name was "split" to become the Northern Eagles and the next year they played mostly at Manly's stadium, picked a few of the best young Bears prospects and most other recognisable Bears left or retired. The following year the charade was dropped and the name changed to Manly Eagles, with my favourite team being completely absorbed and feeling completely unrepresented by league.

That said, I'm more of a union guy anyway.

That's the thing some Americans might need explaining, there's rugby union - which is more of a world game, has a fine tradition, etc. Then there's rugby league which was built up as a "sport of the masses" in New South Wales and quickly built up through the working classes of that state whilst union came up more through the universities and being seen as a snobbish sport.

These days out of all four of the football codes I'm a union guy, I follow the Brumbies in the Super 14 comp (am a bit disappointed that Mark Gerrard has gone to join Larkham and Gregan over in Japan - guy would have been your front-runner for 15 jersey in the Wallabies). I've played here and there over the past 4 years, regularly for 3 and only one game last year as I've been preoccupied with shift work. Play either fly half or on the wing depending on which level I play at, lower grades I'm considered a skills guy and do pretty well with the fly half's 10. Higher up I've little value outside of a runner down the wings and chasing kicks.

Does Adelaide avoid all that crazy bushfires other parts of Australia get?
The Adelaide Hills are pretty prone to bushfire, but the city (particularly west of the city near the coast like I am) is pretty safe from the threat.

Adelaide Hills get bushfires (albeit generally small and wind up contained as quickly as the services are able) on about a yearly basis.

Do you like Kevin Rudd?
I think he was necessary. I'm very much a fan of finding a balance by flux. Under John Howard I think we were leaning a tad too much to the right and could do with a nudge back the otherway closer to centre.

I've no doubt that eventually it'll be best for us to swing back the other way again.

Some of his methods in Question Time I don't completely agree with though. But I'm unlikely to agree with any politician.

Australian Top Gear or British Top Gear which is better?
British Top Gear.

By a mile, British Top Gear.

So Hound...

do you proclaim some type of faith?

Do you have any brothers and sisters?

Do you speak another language besides English?

What is your favourite holiday?

STOP! Who approacheth the bridge of death must answer me these questions three ere the other side they see.
What is your name?

What is your quest?

What is your favourite color?

What's the first thing you think of when i say... "Halo"

Is Officer Rockatansky really as much of a hard@ss as people claim?

Do you ever stand on the beach and stare at the ocean, wondering how much longer it'll be before the radioactive cloud reaches you?

Marvel or DC?

Kick or punch?

Does this look infected to you?

All time favorite video game?

So Hound...

do you proclaim some type of faith?

if so, which one?
I consider myself agnostic, which means that if you've got a belief (even if that belief is that there is NO God) then I reserve the right to shoot it down...
Do you have any brothers and sisters?
No. Which was probably quite a relief to my own parents.
Do you want to have more children?
Perhaps one day. No plans though.
Do you plan on getting married again?
Haven't been the first time. Was engaged but didn't get to the day.
Do you speak another language besides English?
No. At least not enough to consider myself bilingual.
What is your favourite holiday?
Holidays are pretty much irrelevant in my job with the shifts and all... I suppose my favourite holiday would have to be those times where I come to the end of a shift, have 4 days off and then a public holiday they don't want to pay me penalty rates for leads to a grace day, meaning 5 day "weekend"...
What is your favourite meal?
The next one/the one I'm eating.
What is your favourite dessert?
All are equally awesome, I don't believe in dessert prejudice.
What is your favourite non-alchoholic beverage?
Coffee. Farmers Union Iced Coffee is also pretty kickarse. Notice the dependence on the legitimized drugs... hmm... disturbing trend.
What is your favourite beer?
Coopers pale ale and Caffreys/Guinness. Though due to hyperinsulinaemia I largely have to settle for Pure Blondes or Extra Drys... Australian tragedy...
What is your favourite alcoholic mixed drink?
Probably just a simple screwdriver. Alcohol poisoning from a younger age has left me with a pretty low tolerance for whisky.

Also the occasional "milkshake" I used to whip up through high school...

STOP! Who approacheth the bridge of death must answer me these questions three ere the other side they see.
What is your name?
Sir Hound
What is your quest?
To find the Holy Hype
What is your favourite color?
African or European..? I mean bluu-yaaaaaaaaaargh!

What's the first thing you think of when i say... "Halo"
X-Box

As do all folk who went the PS2/PS3 route and thus can't experience the wonders of Halo...

Is Officer Rockatansky really as much of a hard@ss as people claim?
Even moreso. Paticularly if your name ends in -aster, or you're a midget.

Max hates him some midgets... or jews... the jews were responsible for all of the post-apocalyptic scorched earth scenarios of all-time, didn't you know...
Do you ever stand on the beach and stare at the ocean, wondering how much longer it'll be before the radioactive cloud reaches you?
I used to when I was younger but now its just too much hassle.

The long lines leading up to stare off into the distance barely make the trip worthwhile these days... we need the radioactive cloud to hit, thin out some of the population so we can go gaze off wistfully at the ocean...

Does the government control the weather?
No, the government controls my brain.
Or the Yakuza?
No, they control society.

The weather, I thought, was under the jurisdiction of the high court of leprachauns, although there are several courts with elven magistrates and local fairy judges...

Leprachaun mandate is tough but fair...

The leprechauns got their hands on that Russian made weather machine? Crap. We're doomed. :(

Marvel or DC?
I'm not really one to split hairs between the two... I've got my favourites in each shed.
Kick or punch?
Each have their place, more likely to open with a punch. You get a kick caught and your balance is gone.
Does this look infected to you?
I wouldn't presume that to be my place to say, Doctor huxtable...
All time favorite video game?
Was a big NBA Live guy back in the day, to the extent that I created the entire Australian NBL for a number of years on there... Big fan of NBA Jam prior to that, but if you take those out of the equation I guess we'll go with Mortal Kombat.

Cloud seeding's been around for a while, but I think they may well be overestimating their own abilities...

I don't mean cloud seeding.

I totally meant a cold war era electromagnetic machine meant to incite hurricanes of devastating proportions. Don't you read the news? :o

Working.

Halloween's not real big down here, regardless... trick or treating is pretty rare.

Its more used as a party excuse for adults.

Subzero

AKA Mr Freeze'n'uppercut.

Although I'd often go with Liu Kang and Rayden as well...

Was good with Shang Tsung, but that's a b****-move...
