I actually liked what they did with Dark Shadows (the world doesn't need another serious take on a love-sick vampire), but I think the comedy should have been much better and less repetitive and the story needed to be paid more attention to. The climax should have been much less rushy. And that [BLACKOUT]last-minute teenage werewolf[/BLACKOUT] should have been either written off or completely integrated.

I'd keep the cast but I'd have make Depp work as crazy. You can tell when he and Burton get together they keep flattering each other and let each other get away with anything.

Where do you see yourself and what do you see yourself doing 10 years from now?

At the computer, complaining of superhero movies.

What is your first name?

Alex. As in Alex J. Pleasury.

Who do you feel closest to here on the Hype?

The Joker (not the villain but the SHH poster).

If you were to meet any Hypester in real life, who would it be and what would you do?

The Joker, because I'm intrigued and LibidoLoca because she's just too much fun.

Where is home for you? Where would you like home to be?

I wish home were wherever I went.

List 15 superheroes you really enjoy

Batman and Hulk are my two absolute favorites.

Then Superman and Spider-man.

Then the X-Men, who I didn't know very well before I saw the movies.

Thanks to Robert Downey Jr I have come to appreciate Iron Man.

Flash is a superhero that I enjoyed only in the 1990 TV series, but when I did, I did.

Also the Greatest American Hero, that wonderful TV series and one of the few examples when superhero spoofs can really fly high (:D)

But in my childhood I had a very special place for Japanese superheroes such as: Ultraman (1966), Ultraseven (1967), Ultraman Jack (1971).

Also Gatchaman (originally made in 1972, known in USA as Battle of the Planets in 1978, G-Force in 1986 and Eagle Raiders in 1994). For those who are unfamiliar, it's a group of five super-powered orphans in cool bird-like costumes.

And I cannot forget about Mazinger Z (1972, known as Tranzor Z in the USA), who spawned a bunch of similar giant robots controlled by a human from the very robot's head.

Also the Japanese superhero known as Gekko Kamen (known in USA as Moonlight Mask) who had a great series in 1972.

I cannot not mention the Green Hornet and his unique way to get involved with the villains. And his suit is great.

Finally I have come to know and enjoy the Powerpuff Girls. Honorary mention to them.

List 30 movies you wish to see

Oh, I don't know if I can get to 30 of them.

Schindler's List (I intended to see it in 1993 and I am still wanting to do so).
London After Midnight (but it's a lost movie with Lon Cheaney Sr).
Everything by Fellini (have only seen Amarcord).
Everything by Vottorio DeSica (have only seen The Bycicle Thief).
Everything by Woody Allen (I have seen most of his work but he never fails to impress me when mixing comedy and drama).

Tell us about some of your interests

Drawing and acting.

Do you watch any sports? Star Trek Into Darkness or Man of Steel?

No, I don't watch any sport.

I hated the first Star Trek by Abrams, but the second one was very good. I rate it higher than MoS.

How do you define:
Loser?
Crazy?
True Love?

Loser: everyone at certain points of their lives.
Crazy: unable to accept/deal with reality.
True love: like eternity, a concept that you can understand and imagine but whose existence can be put in doubt or can be achieved by just insistently believing it is true.

Human Torch

What on earth does your screen name mean?

It means that I am a senator and that I am to give and receive pleasure.

Do you like to going to midnight screenings?

ever done it. If I go out at midnight that's for a drink or a strip club. Normally I go to see a movie a few days after it's released, except if it's a superhero movie, then I go the very first morning.

Tell us abit about yourself. Are you married? What is your Job? What City do you live in? What are your interests?

I have been an actor and a teacher. I currently live near Seattle. My interests are acting and teaching. Oh, and drawing.

What did you teach? Why did you choose to teach it? Was it a fun experience?

Can we see some of your drawings?

Since you're in Seattle this reminds me of the movie "Sleepless in Seattle". Did you watch it? Did you like it? Is the character of Meg Ryan bad in that movie?

English and Spanish. Most of it were private lessons which allowed me to know a lot of different people from different ages and professions. Not many realize this but a private teacher sooner or later, in a higher or lesser degree, becomes a therapist.

Sure, I opened a thread here:

Never seen that.

I much rather watch Frasier. :D

And I still believe Townsville (Powerpuff Girls' town) is Seattle, Space Needle and all:

What inspired you to do artwork?

What is so special about Hulk? You and Bruce_Banner (a member) should meet and be friends, Hulk and Batman are your favorite from Marvel and DC respectively

I thought all the good teachers do that, public teachers more than private
It must mean you a good teacher, ever considered getting back?

The art itself looks good
But I don't like the look of the suit

I just liked top draw my favorite characters as a child.

Now, in 1993 aprox. I had the chance to flip through one of Frank Miller's Sin City issues. I had it in my hands for less than 5 minutes but the impression it caused on me was such that I never drew again without having that art on my mind.

Hulk is an excellent creation. I'd say it's better than many times it has been portrayed.

It's a absolutely great mixture of Frankenstein, Jekyll & Hyde and the Wolf Man. But not only is great as this, it also has anger, the most primitive, visceral emotion and, as if that were't enough, comics have given him a perfectly recognizable visual identity, so he might be based on those other characters but he is not a sub-product but has its own value.

Now, I ignore how much of Bruce Banner (the character not the user) would be on Bruce Banner (the user not the character).

I thought all the good teachers do that, public teachers more than private.
It must mean you a good teacher, ever considered getting back?

Sure, I will soon.

The art itself looks good

Fair enough, but would you expand a little on that? Every piece of criticism is important.

What I tried to do was conceive Batman as what it was originally supposed to be, a mix between a human bat and a gargoyle.

Regale us with the story of your first love.

Sure: nothing too uncommon.

I was 13 and she was too, we were classmates. I thought she was beautiful, but she was also funny. I didn't know a thing of how to approach a girl so I did what I could and then some handsome guy came and took her. The end. :)

What's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you in public?

I had this bad idea of attending some stand-up comedy audition for a TV show. They gave people scripts but to some of us they just said "It's not important, bring your own material." All in me told me I shouldn't do it but I had this drama teacher classic speech of getting out of your comfort zone and learn out of failures so I went and did horrible. Luckily it was a private audition only seen by those who organized it and a dozen people in the audience.

I have done great in comedy when it's written and rehearsed and having other characters to interact with. There, I can improvise a lot. But me alone with a microphone is just not my thing.

You ever have crazy dreams about superheroes?

Oh sure. Some times I have dreamed I am watching some superhero TV series and weird stuff happens. Once in 2008 I dreamed that i was watching a The Dark Knight bootleg copy (this happened months before the release) and it was terribly boring. And the whole League of Justice was there talking and talking and Batman was nowhere to be seen.

If you could travel to any era in time, where would you go and why?

USA in the 1970's. I was born in 1974 and I still remember that decade as lots of fun but I was too little to have all that fun.

Will you ever run for Governor or President in the future?:woot:

The first half was too much of a comedy. And not a very good one at that. By the time they needed to add that stupid giant hands gag I was fed up with it.

Lol, not with my sexual harassment record.

That sound interesting, tell us about that.

That makes the costume design choice understandable
What I don't like about the costume goes to personal taste, I'm not a fan of the long horns, all the extra details on the cape and cowl, the head bump in the cowl's center line...
I prefer the way Neal Adams draws the costume

Ah, Mr. Canio, my lawyer here tells me I should not.

Hulk (2003), and The Incredible Hulk (2008)
List the pros in both movies, just the pros

"HULK" pros:
- It was dark.
- It was violent.
- It involved psychology, as in Hulk being a self-protective device against repressed memories.
- The Hulk vs Army sequence was extremely good.
- Great acting (specially Sam Eliott).
- Hulk's behavior and reactions were excellent.

"TIH" pros:
- Great Hulk.
- Great Abomination.
- Great Bruce Banner.
- Great action.
- Great Sam Sterns.

Favorite incarnation of the Hulk?

The 1977-1982 TV series. Although I take what Kenneth Johnson directed himself, like the pilot and the two-parter Prometheus, which serious tone was unparalleled until Nolan came to direct Batman. Hulk was then an authentic tragedy.

Favorite run on Hulk?

I enjoy immensely the all the 1960's and 70's.

Do you find anything inspiring about Batman?

Very interesting question. Although I don't see his inspirational side as the most important, his origin story is a great tale about determination and tenacity to meet your goals.

Whoa, did I?

Okay, look. Signing a contract is a very delicate matter. So you sign contracts for a few months or years. 20 years is a little dangerous because things can change in between; it's a very long time. Let alone signing a contract for life. Now, let's say it's a contract about your feelings, the one thing you know change a lot. And you sign a contract saying that you feelings won't change until you die. It strikes me a little bit nonsensical; you know they change, you cannot (shouldn't) promise they won't, let alone sign a contract saying so. So how come so many people do it? I think because they just see other people doing it, specially in movies.
