Also, remind people that a good 15 minutes, doesn't mean 1-2 word answers. Not telling people to write a novel, but at least be interesting.

X-Men 3: The Last Stand

Hmm well when I think about it there's less I'd change than I thought. I'll keep it brief as I doubt anyone cares too much! I'm assuming I'm replacing the version that exists rather than re-making it years later? If so:

- I'd keep the casting largely the same, but with no Vinnie Jones/Juggernaut and probably no Angel. I like the character but didn't think he added anything to the movie. Would probably drop a few of Mags' lame leather-clad lackeys too like Spike-Face-Boy. I'd keep Alan Cummings' Nightcrawler from X2.

- In terms of characters/plot, I'd keep Cyclops alive of course! Possibly Xavier too. I don't have much issue with the basic premise which logically led on from X2. With Cyclops alive, Wolverine's arc wouldn't be quite so straightforward - I'd have him realise that Cyke's the only thing keeping Jean vaguely sane and 'step aside' for the greater good. As in the comics, Jean would essentially commit suicide at the end to prevent being consumed entirely.

- The X-Men line-up would therefore be Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Beast, Iceman and Kitty. I'd probably have Blob replace Juggernaut so the Brotherhood would be Magneto, Mystique (with powers), Pyro and Blob.

- Alternatively, the fanboy in me would say that instead of the above, I'd have a bat***t mental space epic instead - with the X-Men getting transported to space to battle the Sh'iar Imperial Guard on the moon for Jean's life! A moustachioed Bruce Campbell would cameo as Corsair :)

Honestly? I have no idea. I'm quite directionless these days. Hopefully married with a creative job that makes me happy.

What is your first name?

(sobs) Reek!

Who do you feel closest to here on the Hype?

I don't post/engage in conversations often enough to be that close to anyone sadly! Probably the Marvel Legends guys - spideyboy, Spider-Jay et al, and JewHobbs/Havok83 because we seem to have similar tastes/opinions in comics.

If you were to meet any Hypester in real life, who would it be and what would you do?

Hopefuldreamer. We'd get married in a big cathedral by a priest.

Where is home for you? Where would you like home to be?

Home is London and I can't imagine 'home' being anywhere else, except maybe Berlin.

List 15 superheroes you really enjoy

As you may have guessed I'm quite into the X-Men so there's a few here! Cyclops, Spider-Man, Colossus, Jean Grey, Hank Pym, Gambit, Ms Marvel, Iron Man, Magik, Magneto (he's sometimes a hero!), Nightcrawler, Sentry, Storm, Buffy The Vampire Slayer (she counts right?) and The Crimson Bolt :)

List 30 movies you wish to see.

That will take a fair while to whittle down the list - I have at least 30 movies on my shelf that I haven't seen, and plenty more in the back catalogue to get through! A few recent/upcoming ones would be Before Midnight, Iron Man 3, Pacific Rim, Thor 2, Avengers 2, X-Men: Days of Future Past, The World's End and Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.

Star Trek Into Darkness or Man of Steel?

Star Trek Into Darkness or Man of Steel?

Must be the only Hyper that hasn't seen either yet! Never been a Star Trek fan but would like to see new ones, just haven't gotten round to it. MoS looks good from the trailers but I've only been to cinema a few times in last few months (unusual for me) and wanted to see The Wolverine more (even though I knew it wouldn't be great....)

Out of the Hype members I saw their thought, you are part of the disappointed half in the Wolverine. What's your grade? On a scale of 10?

You are one of 2 in one row to be huge fans of the X-Men. That is awesome

Why did you name yourself after the name of Cyclops in issue 1 of Kirby's X-Men?

Tell us about some of your interestes

Probably 6.5. I wasn't that disappointed because I wasn't expecting much to begin with lol. There was plenty to like about it, particularly their version of Yukio, but I didn't think the Silver Samurai stuff was done well and as a movie in general it sort of petered out a bit. There were also a fair few inconsistencies but they're par for the course with X-movies!

Yes, yes it is :yay:

Why did you name yourself after the name of Cyclops in issue 1 of Kirby's X-Men?

Scott Summers was probably taken! Plus I've always liked Cyke being called Slim, and if it's read as a nod towards classic X-Men then I'm ok with that :cyclops:

Tell us about some of your interests

Cheese & wine, 50s American nostalgia culture, most things Marvel, comedy, football (soccer to many on here...), music, classic literature, and all sorts of movies from any era/country/genre. Lots of TV shows but mainly HBO dramas and unusual comedies like Community or Garth Marenghi's Darkplace.

What books do you think made better movies than the source they adapted? What did the movies improve? What did the novel do better?

Did you see the video of a "Doctor Freeze" explaining how to do "the Batman voice"?

What books do you think made better movies than the source they adapted? What did the movies improve? What did the novel do better?

The most obvious book that I can think of where the movie is better is The Godfather. It's an entertaining book but by no means a masterpiece, whereas the movie remains one of the greatest achievements of Hollywood cinema. The only thing I liked from the book that isn't included in detail in the movie was all the stuff about Johnny Fontane and Nuno, his slightly bitter pal. It's largely outside the mafia elements but I found it a compelling part of the story.

A perhaps less obvious example would be Bridge To Terabithia, where I found the book average at best but liked the tone and heart of the movie. The movie's no classic but I certainly preferred it to the book, and I can't think of any elements from the book that I thought were 'better' off the top of my head. Plus the movie had T-1000 in it :)

Jurassic Park was a good book and an awesome movie. I think Alan Grant had a beard in the book, and that's the only thing I can think of that would have made the movie better!

A couple of excellent books/novellas that had great movies where they changed a fair amount of the story would be Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep (Blade Runner), Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption (Shawshank Redemption) and The Body (Stand By Me). I could write a whole essay on likes/dislikes between the different versions so will leave it there!

Lastly, one going the other way entirely is The Beach, which only worked as a book in my opinion, possibly because so much of it is Richard's thoughts.

Did you like The Cable Guy? Why? Why not?

Haha, I completely forgot the movie even existed. I saw it once, more than 15 years ago, and for the life of me can't remember a thing about it. I don't think I was that impressed at the time though. Is it worth a re-watch??

What's your favorite story from the X-Men comics?

Whoa, I should probably think about this one. Claremont's first run includes a fair amount of my favourites and although it's obvious, I'd probably have to say the original Dark Phoenix saga (up to and including UXM # 138 when Cyclops quits) would be top. A couple of others I love from that run are Doom vs the X-Men (UXM # 145-147) and particularly Magneto's island in the Bermuda Triangle straight after (UXM #148-150).

I really enjoyed the original run on X-Factor and afterwards, Grant Morrison, Joss Whedon and Kieran Gillen's runs, with no particular arc as a favourite. In terms of modern favourite stories, I'd say Messiah Complex, Second Coming and Utopia (ie. X-Men vs Dark Avengers/Dark X-Men). I know a lot of people don't like the direction those stories took Cyclops in, but I'm glad they showed him to be the heavyweight tactical genius that he should be even at the cost of his own humanity.

I don't own the arc in the 90's when Mags rips out Wolvie's adamantium (on Asteroid M I think) but I remember loving that arc when I was younger. Would love to re-read it but not sure what trade (if any) it's included in.

So is that it? My 15 minutes up?

Fame, you are a cruel and fickle mistress.

If fame was a woman, would you slap her or adore her? Or would you do the former because of the latter?
