its been 40 years since that historic year of Murders, Movements, Innovation, Religion, Sexuality, and Politics

feel free to talk about that year that changed America forever

Aside from Woodstock, the moon landing and the Manson killings, what else happened in 1969 that's so revolutionary?

I think 1968 was more significant.

Jim Morrison "exposes" himself in Miami (he didn't), which begins the downfall to one of the greatest rock and roll bands ever. The Doors release their weakest album with Morrison (The Soft Parade) as well.

Woodstock

The Beatles give their last live performance

Man lands on the Moon

Ted Kennedy ruins his chance at ever running for higher office

President Richard Nixon begins his term in office, perhaps one of the most misunderstood and hated leaders in our history. This year there is the Nixon Doctrine, the first withdrawals of troops from Vietnam, but the draft is reinstated. He also gives perhaps his most successful speech, "the great silent majority."

Hell of a year, wish I was around
