Um.....This is for other sports fans, I guess.
Anyways, I was watching a documentary on HBO about the USA vs. Soviet Union game and the controversial :03 seconds. The documentary brought up some really great points and proofs. There was also some bias, though. Hopefully, some people know about it, and maybe we may have a poster that was alive and knew about it at the time. Obviously there was alot of weird coincidences happening during the game. The Soviet Union ended up beating the United States at the end of the game.

My question is:

Who really should've won?

USA or Soviet Union?

The United States should have won. No question. USSR was a bunch of cheaters who had every advantage.

Team USA jot jobbed, big time. They should never accept those Silver Medals. Carry the grudge forever! ...to the grave and beyond!

Seriously, they got jobbed.

There is an HBO special called ":03 From Gold". Its pretty good and informative, tells the story of that game with interviews of players from both teams and others. The Russians basically think they won it fair and square including the players. One woman they interviewed was like "The second (Russian player's name I can't remember) made that last basket I yelled out in joy "Victory! Victory! Nothing but victory!"
Its incredible, they are totally oblivious to what really happened and its there right under their wide fat noses.

Oh and for anyone that isn't familiar with the game, basically Team USA was up by one point with 3 seconds left, with the Russians having possesion of the ball at their own end of the court. First time, they throw the ball in some guy takes a desparate shot from like half court no good, USA wins right? Wrong. The Soviets argued they were trying to take a timeout. So they put the time back on and they get another shot. Same thing happens, in bound the ball, can't get any points, buzzer sounds, game over right? But wait, now something else is wrong. Now they are saying that they didn't reset the clock right. Oblivious to the referees that they simply cannot just add time to the clock and Team USA is forced to play because they were threatened that if they didn't take the court they would forefeit the gold medals. So a third chance, the Russian throws the ball the length of the court to their center near the USA basket, he catches it crashes into 2 USA players, one of whom goes sprawling, and makes an easy lay up. USSR wins. But thats ok, they can take their tainted win, the ulitimate revenge came 8 years later at Lake Placid.

I was wondering who the hell the lady was.
I thought it was some random lady. Oh boy, get some info from a person who probably wasn't there.

:down

I think it was a Russian reporter covering the game.
