I myself am going to finish season 7 of Buffy here in a week or two, so I won't be having as long a wait for this as some of you people. But it will be just as torturous.

Joss is writing the first 4 issues of this series, last I heard. Dunno who's taking over afterward, but pretty sure Joss has the overall plot mapped out because not only is this being referred to as a "season" of Buffy, but he was talking about (paraphrasing) "big things going on in the Buffyverse" awhile ago on his site. Anyway...I am anticipating this greatly.


Has anyone read the "Angel: Old Friends" series yet? I've seen like 5 issues in my comic shop, and not only am I wondering if it'll be collected in trade, but I'm wondering if it's good at all. I hear it takes place after the final season of Angel. Correct?

And are the "Spike vs Dracula" comics good?

Yeah, Old Friends takes place after the end of Angel. I haven't heard favourable reviews in the sense that it was 'Wow! Spectacular! Mondo cool!' but that it was rather mediocre.

I heard The Curse was also rather mediocre, but Spike vs Dracula is supposed to be pretty fun. You can always look into the Spotlight issues too. I picked up Wesley's and it's awesome.

I can never seem to bring myself to read any comics related to live-action TV series. Something about the whole thing just seems tacky. Plus, the last season of Buffy sucked and, by the end of it, Buffy herself was a completely irredeemable *****ebag. I couldn't stand her.

Oh, except Fray. I read Fray and loved it, but it didn't have any artists' renderings of real-life actors, so maybe that's why I could read it.

I'm looking forward to this. Mainly because of Whedon's involvement. I've read the comics that he had actual input in, but I avoid the ones that he didn't write or at least plot.

Though I did read some of the ones Jane Espenson did. She's funny.

Her head's a little too small, but I'm impressed that that's Georges Jeanty's work. I never really thought he was that great.

Edit: Never mind, that's Jo Chen's art. I guess Jeanty's doing the interiors.

2. Season 7 of Buffy doesn't suck, I have 3 eps left to go so don't ruin it for me Corp, but I like it, Buffy isn't unlikeable, she's just a general and generals need to be jerks sometimes.

Buffy's totally unlikable. She was a general to her friends in previous episodes without becoming a complete *****e. I liked most of the newbie Slayers more than I liked her, and that's just not good when you consider how much fun she was in earlier seasons.

Leading troops is still leading troops. She's had to make hard decisions before and possibly sacrifice those close to her. She struggled with it but moved on and came out like her old self. Season 7 featured a complete overhaul of her character in directions that just annoyed me. Maybe I'm being too harsh, though. I admit, it's been a pretty long time since I actually watched season 7. Maybe my opinions would be different if I watched it again.

I think it's clearly better than seasons 4 and 6, and I thought those were good too, just not as good as the other ones
