Set in New York City, the series chronicles the lives of two waitresses in their twenties—Max (Kat Dennings), who comes from a poor working-class family, and Caroline (Beth Behrs), who was born rich but is now down on her luck—working together at a Brooklyn restaurant. The two become fast friends and build their dream of one day opening a cupcake shop (for which they need to raise $250,000), although they can barely afford anything with the pay they receive at work, and must continually find ways to make ends meet. Among those working with them at the restaurant are their boss, Han Lee (Matthew Moy); Oleg (Jonathan Kite), an upbeat Russian cook; and Earl (Garrett Morris), the cashier. At the end of each episode, a tally shows how much of the $250,000 goal they have earned so far.

The series was created by Michael Patrick King and Whitney Cummings

The first episode was ok and the show has potential. But the laugh track is killing it! It almost made me just stop watching it.

It's funny how decent comedies on CBS can be when Chuck Lorre's not involved (not counting Rules of Engagement, of course. That's a pile of deep fried ****). There's potential here.

I don't understand why laugh-tracks still exist. Are people so dumb and lazy they really need to be told when to laugh?

The synopsis seems to follow the typical formulaic route for these easy-bake network sitcoms. I give it until mid-season.

The two leads are great, but the supporting cast is awful. I'll still tune in for the girls.

That said, Kat Dennings is a Goddess! :hrt:

Kat Dennings is was pretty awesome (As always). Hopefully this show stays, and grows into it's own.

I'm more curious if she's natural or if her bra is stuffed or she's wearing a push up bra. Good lord. Other than her hotness, eh. I'll watch it on dvr.

I don't get why people endure mediocre TV just to salivate at an attractive female. If you want something that has a terrible storyline and a hot chick watch a porno.

I thought this show was alright. The leads are very funny which will keep me watching. A couple minor complaints I have is for one, Garrett Morris is too old to play his part. He didn't deliver his lines very well, had me thinking, "Well, God bless him, at least he's trying.". The second is them having a horse in their big city apartment. Thought it was too silly, didn't make me laugh.

I'll continue to watch but if it gets cancelled I can't see myself caring based on this first ep.

This show was mediocre just like the New Girl. I don't understand the love critics have for either show.

Last two comedies that have any interest for me at this point are the ABC ones Suburgatory and Apartment 23.

Meh, I'll pass. Dennings annoys the **** out of me.

Dennings annoyed me in Thor. So I did not watch this besides for the last minute before Hawaii Five-0. The Blonde is hot. But not enough to get me to watch

Well it scored 19mill viewers which is amazing, of course because it had TwoMen as its lead in.

Ya I know, it will people average out to about 10mill I would say but of course I dont think this is its reg. timeslot so it wont have 2halfmen to lead into it.

Check the phun forums, as she had some topless pics leak earlier this year. She is all natural. :wow:

Oh yes, Dennings' breasts are real. Go look for the pics if you must.

As for Thor, yes she was awful in that. It looks like it was just the role because she is awesome here.

Thus far one of the few comedies, that I'll be tuning in for on a weekly basis.

Loving the two leading ladies.

As long as they get rid of the hidious laugh track I will be A-ok to tune in every week.

Yeah, the laugh track was very off-putting, which is unfortunate since, for the most part, the show was funny on its own. The caricature ethnic characters annoyed me too. Is there no such thing as an Asian American to Hollywood? Or do they just prefer to write characters that can barely speak english?

This show could probably be really good if it wasn't so damn sitcom-ey. The laugh track, the goofy side characters, and that horrible sitcom acting weird line delivery... It could be a whole lot better. But honestly, Kat Dennings is funny and whoever the blonde is is too, so i might watch this if I catch it on

Wow, I'm surprised how many people actually like this show. I must be watched a different version because I find it god awful! My girlfriend asked me to watch it with her, watched the first two, but I don't think I'll be able to handle a third. The laugh track, horrible acting, the crap music between each scene. Please tell me what people see in the show and don't say the two leads because there's plenty of good looking women in much better shows. Modern Family has two good looking women, but also added actual writers. Also, they should just give the Asian boss a rice hat, glasses and buck teeth, if you're gonna go racist, go all the way.

I tried watching but gave up after about 10 minutes. Didn't find it funny at all.
