Based on what you know of the machinations of the 2000 election, from the make-up of the ballots, to the recount procedures, to the partisan court-ruling, do you feel Bush legitimately won the 2000 election?

I should learn more about politics so I can give a honest answer.

Yes because a polling of a largely left group of people is a GREAT scientific poll

Oh and nice 'fair and balanced and objective' question. Haha

Just because you cant prove something that was supposed to be easily proven and common knowledge in America....

Okay I vote yes, purely because I think I would've preferred Gore. However according to the research I have done he only did win by strict standard, but I like strict standard. You do realize the poll will be incredibly skewed.

Didn;t you watch the news? You're starting to sound like the guy who thought the planes weren't hijacked and the one who thought more than one person shot JFK. Watch the news, they'll tell you wutup.

Yes but he knows that this poll may very well go his way and he needs that to feel better about his position he put himself in in that other thread...no matter how skewed this poll is.

Well we all know now that Bush didn't deserve to win.

He won the election fair and square. An election that is won, even if it was due to an odd technicality within an electoral system, is still a fairly won election.

I think I'm starting to get sick of political threads again.

Especially when there isn't even an election until November and a Presidential one for the next two years.

It's as though the Left just cannot get over losing, like it's supposed to be their divine right to rule.

Which is just part of the reason why I refuse to get out of the middle until there's somebody worth voting for.

You have to be williing to pick somebody worth voting for.

And I'll be waiting for whenever that somebody comes along. Until then, I'll just vote against everybody else. ;)

Without question from you? Yes....just about everyone else had questions though.

Just about every reactive, non-thinking lefty.

You're right.

depends what you mean by legitimately. My understanding is that he won the most electoral votes, but not the popular vote.

I'm no lefty, I'm more conservative than N8 and Jonty and wouldn't have wanted Gore in office... and yet it's pretty obvious that the only election Bush won was with the Supreme Court Justices.

That's my point. With the US electoral system, the only win that counts is the electoral vote, as it should be. This means that occasionally, it's possible to win against the popular vote.

It is still a legitimate win, hence, the question is bunkum.
