Team Canada's "Fix of Six" (lame) started tonight with a 16-0 win over Latvia. Team Sweden, Russia and America as a darkhorse are the teams that have a chance to challenge Canada.

The event has returned to Saskatchewan though the first couple of games will be a joke and not worth watching unless you love seeing tons of goals being scored against teams that shouldn't be at the tournament.

The Canada/USA New Year's Game and then the Medal Round games are the ones worth watching.

Gabriel Bourque racked up 7 points in that game, he tied Mike Cammalleri as the only other Canadian to do so. Still doesn't beat Peter Forsberg's 10 point game back in 92 though, Sweden won that game 20-1. You're right though Canada will be the team to beat.

Class act by the Canadian fans to boo our kids off the ice yesterday in a game where we played Switzerland

You're the bad guys here, they have to boo against someone.

You can boo the Canadians next year in Buffalo.

Why would we be the bad guys? Regardless of your political feelings, these are a bunch of kids out there not pro's, and we werent even playing the Canadian team, where it would be somewhat more understandable, we were playing the fricking Swiss.

It was a pretty classless move no matter how you try to spin it, and the fact that you'd think we'll return the favor in Buffalo next year (which we wont , since we dont have a raging inferiority complex when it comes to Canadians) still doesnt justify it.

Also considering anytime the IIHF puts the tourney in the US, it's usually on a border city anyway, where Canadians still mke-up the majority of the audience, since they seem to care the most about junior level hockey, maybe you'll boo us out our home rink too?

Team USA is one of Canada's top rivals in hockey. There is a history in international hockey between the two teams, they're going to get booed. (World Cup, World Championships, World Juniors, Olympics) This isn't political or feeling inferior, this is hockey fans booing a team they don't want to win. They want America to lose since that helps Canada's chances advancing to the semi-finals. If this was a game where Switzerland needed to lose to help Canada they would cheer for America.

They're hockey fans at a game they paid for, some are going to cheer for a team they want to win and boo against another they want to lose. This is nothing new as it has happened in previous years.

Is there no booing in US college hockey games? Any Americans who play on Canadian junior teams will be used to it. If they booed during the American national anthem, then yeah they're classless but it's a sports competition, fans are going to cheer and boo.

Your're missing the point. The game was already over. This wasnt the normal in-game booing of a crowd. The game was over and they booed them off the ice, viciously too from many accounts of those who were there (TSN). . And you know it helps Canada when rivals like Russia, Sweden, and Finland lose too, but those teams arent booed off the ice like that when they win either.

And FWIW in prior years, they have booed during the American anthem.

Well then they're just drunk *****ebags, it is the hick part of Canada.

Looking forward to the rematch tomorrow night in the Final.

Hopefully our kids can play a more complete game this time and not fall apart at the end like they did in the first game.

Geezuz Christ... what a friggin' great game... :wow: :wow: :wow:

Highest scoring Gold medal game ever... 2 pulled goalies... blown leads...

This is how I feel right now.

wow, great game tonight

I thought we were toast after we blew the late 2 goal lead and Canada took it to OT.

Good showing by the US to step up and fight back to take the Gold.

REALLY looking forward to seeing guys like Donovan and de Haan on my Islanders in the near future.

Jordan Eberle is a beast too. Gotta be stoked about him if you're an Oilers fan.

Great game and the loss will help next year more exciting as the streak of golds, while great a first, has made the tournament somewhat boring. I've watched the last 12 World Juniors and Canada has played for gold 9 times.

Look forward to these players moving onto the NHL in a few years. Look at the Olympic teams and the players from the 2004/05/06 World Junior Tournaments.

Shame it wasn't played in America, it would help the tournament gain some traction with a few more hockey fans. They won gold in 2004 in Europe and then the next year in Grand Forks, ND they finished fourth.

Congrats to the Yanks... somebody needs to by 17 year old Campbell a drink for keeping his team in the game... if he plays this well under pressure at 17, I'd hate to see him play in the NHL in 10 years...

Great game, great rivalry, regardless of which side of the border you live on...

:yay:

Amazing game...great comeback by us...but great composure by you guys...!
