So every year my friend's and I have an Oscar party, and everyone is suppose to bring food that can represent one of the best picture nominees. Last year i brought deep fried shrimp in cat food cans (cleaned out of course) for District 9... and i'm having trouble trying to top that this year...

As you know the 10 nominees are..
-Black Swan
-The Kids are Alright
-Toy Story 3
-The Social Network
-Inception
-Winter's Bone
-The King's Speech
-127 Hours
-True Grit
-The Fighter

and right now all i have ideas for are the following...

Black Swan
-Black and White cookies (classic half/half cookies)
-Red Velvet cupcakes with black and white decor on them (hell i could add feathers as decor even.

Toy Story 3
-Vodka soaked gummi bears?

True Grit
-eh... if i felt like cooking something with "grits"

Inception
-Dream Cicles (drinks or popscicles)

do you guy's have any ideas?

I'm making Toy Story cupcakes. They're vanilla cupcakes, with green and purple icing (from the Buzz Lightyear coloring kit), in Toy Story baking cups.

I had all the Toy Story stuff left over from my nephew's birthday party, so I figured what the hell...it's nominated.

I love the black & white cookie idea!

Think I'm going with redvelvet cake with white icing, chocolate sprinkles and syrup, with black and white feathers for decor. And if I can... a plastic mirror like thing stabbing it...

The Black Swan cupcakes sound like a good idea.

Maybe for Inception, you could make a food that doesn't look like itself. For example (not this one, you can think of better ones, but), a cupcake that looks like a hamburger. Or mashed potatoes + beef that look like cupcakes, etc etc.

I love the idea of an Oscar Party, sounds like fun!

I'm making a pizza...

that looks like Natalie Portman.

How about a cake with a computer screen on it.That's for The Social Network.

Shrimp and Grits is a classic grit meal. I love them here in the south. Bobby Flay has an awesome recipe on foodnetwork.com

127 Hours:

Dorito's 2nd Degree Burn Chips. :yay:

Seriously, I dunno.

Ultra Lantern, that's a good idea.

Bagels and lox in honor of Natalie Portman, Jesse Eisenberg, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and James Franco.
