It isn't quickly. They've been on a downward spiral for awhile. Tomlin has completely failed to rebuild Cowher's squad. And the Cowher team was good enough and young enough to remain competitive and even win a Super Bowl....but after nearly 10 years, the chickens are coming home to roost for Mike Tomlin and we are seeing him for what he is: the Barry Switzer of his generation.

You are nuts, bro.

I disagree with the belief that Ron Rivera will be the first coach fired this year. I think it will be Jim Schwartz. Panthers just aren't on the same level as the Saints and Falcons. They aren't ready to compete but for Ron Rivera's presence, and with Chudzinski gone, there is no one waiting in the wings to audition for next season. The Panthers are losing due to a lack of talent. They just aren't there yet.

The Lions on the other hand are beating themselves. They are one of the most purely talented teams in the NFL, yet it is going to waste in a huge way. I think if they are under .500 at their bye week (in Week 9), they will fire Schwartz and give Scott Linehan the reigns. He may not be "auditioning," but he has some head coaching experience and can hold down fort until next season and possibly even put together a respectable run.

Surely, you jest. The Panthers have been beating themselves since 2011.

Ron and Shula have transformed one of the most dynamic QBs in the league into Alex Smith, and he coaches with no brains nor balls. Not enough talent? Our secondary, receiving core and O-Line are crap but yet we had Seattle up against the ropes. The fact is Rivera's IQ as a head coach is subpar. His conservatism only enhances that aspect to him.

Rivera is a coordinator, not a coach. God bless him, but this is exactly like the Norv Turner situation.

You are nuts, bro.

Sadly, he's not.

Damn, last week there were defensive players doing German suplexes. Now, we got people dishing out spinebusters.

Id love to see someone try to argue against that lol

Everything that I said is 100 % accurate.

Matthew, a man could go mad trying to argue anything with you when you're convinced you're right. Did you ever consider that? Look at poor 'Phere, boy still ain't right after all this time.

Not sayin', I'm just sayin'.

Good ol' JR makes everything better. Everything.

Darthphere is literally covering his ears because the truth that Matt utters is too much to handle.

This Monday was the first I saw that the Bengals used a "Who Dey" which if people know I detest "Who Dat" in New Orleans.

Then I saw you got it signed. :o

But still....."Who dey." :csad:

I had no idea the Bengals did "Who Dey" before Monday. It really is a second rate Saints rip.

:o

Who dey, sounds like a holiday celebrating the who's of whoville.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Jim Schwartz get the same treatment as Marvin Lewis in Cincinnati. As far as coaches being fired during the season, I don't think we'll see any.

Ryan Clady has been put on IR.

That must hurt for the Broncos.

Tomlin is a good coach. You lost credibility, IMO, when you compared him to Switzer. If you can't see the difference between the two, or the teams they took over, then there's no point in debating.

You also criticized Tomlin for not being able to rebuild the team. Isn't that the GM's job? Coaches shouldn't be held accountable for their bosses' lack luster performances.

Do you think it's any coincidence that when Arians left and Haley was brought in, that that's when the team started to struggle? Is it fair to say that Big Ben and Haley don't get along? Is it fair to say that they both have different philosophies as to how the offense should be run? Is it fair to say these differences (and Haley's poor play calling) could very well be the reason the Steelers' offense has looked anemic?

Is it fair to say that as HEAD COACH, Tomlin is responsible for fixing those problems?

^ Yes. But at the same time, I don't think it's fair to say that because he wasn't able to, that he's a bad coach. Let alone compare him to Barry Switzer.

The guy has a 63-35 record as HC. He's made it to the playoffs in 4 of the 6 years he's been there. 3 of those 4 times, he won his division. He's been to 2 SBs, and won one. Since he's been in the league, there's only 2 other coaches who've been to 2 SBs. Their names are Belichick and Coughlin. And he's got a better SB record in that time than Belichick. Just sayin'.

That's pretty elite company. That Steelers roster he inherited was really good, but not so great that you could just plug in any HC and they were going to win a SB. He was a big part in them getting it done.
