I wonder if Goodell will keep his job?

There do seem to be bias on behalf of the League part, and in some way, i can see why a % of the African American community view this as being excessive...given a star QB who was brought to trial & prosecuted....twice on rape charges, violating two different women, separate incidence, remind you, both being settle out of court....got nothing from the league after the first incident, and 6 games being REDUCED to 4 games after the second incident. Yet the league is considering a lifetime ban for a altercation, onetime incident, no prosecution or trial. I tend to agree, this is excessive and the league bending to public pressure, and Roger-Dodger trying to save face.

You talking about Roethlisberger? Because he was never prosecuted.

Both women file charges, he was being prosecuted, both cases was settle out of court...undisclosed.

I don't consider it an opinion, it's a fact. Humans > Animals

Killing a human is WAY WAY WAY worse than killing a dog. That doesn't mean I condone killing dogs. If someone killed your dog they would belong in jail.

No, it is opinion. Not fact.

We could get into a whole philosophical debate in here about canines being included as sentient beings (just like homosapiens who are bipedal primates) but this is a football forum.

We're done here.

I dislike Roethlisberger.

But unless someone wants to correct me he was investigated for both. He was never arrested or prosecuted.

The first incident, there was a civil case and was settled for an undisclosed amount.

The second incident, the woman didn't want the attention of a civil trial but didn't take back her accusations.

This. All this.

I still remember after the accusations came out this thread for the rest of the season was hell to come in sometimes. I hope this thread doesn't become derailed as much as it did after those accusations. It probably won't as Rothlesberger was actually playing on the field.

It also doesn't help that Roethlsiberger is an a'hole.

Stephen A. Smith is such a Goodell tool bag. One 'mistake' is all it takes to lose a job, especially one of this severity.

What "mistake" did Goodell make that is so server? I get that people don't like him, but the idea that he should lose his job over this is ridiculous. Unless of course they prove they had seen the tape. That is different. Once you star lying, it is different.

Yeah, that is an issue I have as well. So many people are calling for Goodell's head. While I can definitely understand why, objectively, unless there is proof that he saw the tape, he can deny it and it's a totally plausible excuse. The man can't (unfortunately) lose his job for being apparently ignorant to the situation. Goodell knows this. That's just how it is.

I challenge anyone in this thread to try to counter that argument.

Your. Damn. Opinion.

If someone killed my dog, I'd probably be in a prison cell for a murder charge 24 hours later (I would react the same way if someone hurt my niece or anyone from my inner circle). I've had her since she was a puppy and she's saved my life.

Poo will get real.

You are sounding too salty, man. Calm down.

Goodell and The NFL board played ignorant. It's a big deal. It took public outrage for him to finally take action. Keep in mind, a few weeks ago, it was an abomination to smoke marijuana but if you were connected to domestic violence... two games. I don't want to hear this nonsense. He knew what exactly transpired in that elevator. Anyone with half a mind does.

TMZ had the footage. So either the NFL is grossly incompetent OR they were covering it up. Either way, this falls on the NFL. In addition, Goodell is a public figure -- live by the sword, die by the sword. You think this would play any differently if President Obama had to deal with domestic violence claims in the White House? Nope. Under public pressure, he'd have to resign.

You are sounding too salty, man. Calm down.

I am calm. I'm not hurling insults nor I am employing exclamation points to illustrate my point. I'm telling how it is. Plain and simple.

Roger Goodell isn't Obama and to make that comparison is again ridiculous.

I hardly think so. Both are in the public eye thus both receive more attention (both positive and negative). It's really not that hard comprehend. Once you're a public figure, you're a target. There's no loophole here.

Goodell is a moron but bottom line he has made this league more money than any other commissioner and he works for the owners not the fans or public opinion, the owners receive the money and the public/fans put up with him, money wins here. He won't lose his job or resign, he will move past this just like he has countless other ordeals in his tenure.

Personally reaction to this situation is disgraceful on the NFL's part but if they really didn't see the tape, they really are just ignorant to the severity of domestic violence and how it's a terrible crime and should be treated as such and worse than smoking pot.

With the ray rice jersey exchange set for next friday and saturday, we'll see real quick how many people here in baltimore turned out against rice. My brother is going to the game tommorow night and is going to pay close attention to how many 27 jerseys he sees out and about in and outisde the stadium.

This is just another mistake in a long line of mistakes Goodell has made.

Here's a listing of a few of them:

https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-...t-missteps-as-nfl-commissioner-204722232.html

Right off the bat when he became commissioner it took him WEEKS before he addressed the Pacman Jones and Tank Johnson incidents.

He turned a blind eye to this current issue and was an arrogant ******* when he spoke to the press about it months ago. Yes, he does deserve to lose his job over this. He failed the owners, he failed the players, he failed the fans, he failed the FEMALE fans (which is around 40% of their fanbase believe it or not). Will he lose his job....? It's hard because he's employed by the owners and most of them are as arrogant as he is but the pressure is mounting. Congress is talking about this now and a major Women's Rights advocacy group is calling for his head.

The pressure is mounting.....

That's a terrible article from a site that's terrible at reporting sports.

Goodell inhereted the CTE matter and the blame should be more on Tagliabue. The right call was made for Bounty Gate, as his Spygate. Replacement Refs is his fault, but no mention of the lockout?

Goodell always has been a bad Commissioner. This Ray Rice situation has just highlighted it for a great many more people beyond the world of sports.

It's a blog which pretty much is a terrible version of an article. And Yahoo Sports is far from terrible. They constantly break sports news, so much that ESPN is constantly one upped by them and refuses to acknowledge their existence (getting mocked for it and rightly so).

So just read a report that up to 20 players could be reinstated of the new drug policy passes, I guess a vote could.come as soon as tonight.

Welcome back Josh Gordon! You had a nice run as a car salesman!
