23 Jump Street is Happening!

"You two sons of *****es are going to Medical School!" Ice Cube's Captain Dickson tells Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum's Schmidt and Jenko at the end of 22 Jump Street.

Although that film's credits teased more than twenty faux sequels, a 23 Jump Street is now actually moving forward. Deadline has the news, reporting that 22 Jump Street scribe Rodney Rothman has been hired to draft 23 with Phil Lord and Chris Miller overseeing. There's no word, however, on whether or not they might be planning to return as directors.

23 Jump Street(which may or not may not end up being subtitled "Medical School") will be produced by Lord, Miller, Hill, Tatum and Neal Mortiz. Check back for updates as soon as they become available.

I knew they couldn't resist. Lord and Miller purposely ended it that way to poke fun at franchises. But Sony was like, **** no.

Well, it isn't like they know what to do with Spider-man so they're trying to squeeze more out of their other franchises.

Just gonna repost what I said in the other thread
It could work. I feel like they will go the meta route again but I dont know I think they should find something new to riff on. I was more open to 22 because of how they set it up and going undercover in college makes sense. Where do you go after college? Grad school, culinary school? They made fun of a lot of those ideas in the credits of 22

I had 2 ideas of where a sequel could go if they ever made a third. I thought the idea of them going abroad would be something, but they made fun of that idea in the credits. Also I thought them being teachers and going to school where the teachers were just as weird and crazy as the students they met in the past could work.

I'd be surprised if Lord and Miller return, but I hope this turns out good. I think 22 one of, if not the best, sequel to a comedy ever.

The way I see it, they could make fun of the low quality seen with most threequels and the characters are self-aware of it?

I could imagine Nick Offerman's character who makes fun of Hollywood with his lines saying something about this case is going to have the usual high expectations given the great movie we had before but then it's going to suck by useless rehashing of old plotlines and it'll cause Jump Street to be shut down and rebooted years later.

But yeah I could imagine them coming back as teachers?

As long as they tone it down a but. 22 Jump Street was really funny, but went too far over the top.

Combining MIB with Jump Street would jump the shark I feel. It doesn't help that Jump Street is R-Rated and MIB is PG-13 meaning Jump Street could be nerfed.

The shark in Jumpstreet is already pre-jumped. That's more or less the actual premise for these movies. "Oh my god they're actually doing this."

Jump St. is practically the only living, healthy franchise Sony has all to itself so of course they're going to milk it until it runs into the ground.

They may as well put Spider-Man in it too, hell, team him up with Aunt May, Tatum, Hill, Smith and TLJ and they can take on the Sinister Six!

I saw the 2nd one a few weeks back and was surprised at how funny it was, especially all the meta stuff. I need to see the first one again.

Not sure how I feel about a third. Ok I guess.

i like that they are going crazy with 23 Jump Street. Hill and Tatum have great chemistry and i would pay money to see them fight aliens in the MIB world.

yes its lazy from Sony. but its also lazy to have 3 comicbook movies every year with the same story . yes we are getting the same story every year. nothing new.

I don't see how that's true at all.

a story is more than a character going from A to B and having a fight at the end.

BatmanvSuperman will be a boring movie because they will make it for the 8-80 crowd. you will see.

Well that would be just plot, not story. The story would be that + the why of it all.

Given that Snyder and Goyer are involved I have little doubt that BvS could end up boring but I doubt that'll be because it's an all ages type of film. Widely accessible =/= a boring, lazy movie necessarily.

Its gotten a little better in the last few years but so many superhero movies are

Guy gets powers, contributes to villain origin, led by guilt to stop the spinny thing on the roof.

There's always a spinny thing on the roof.

Haha, so basically they will be going to medical school? Or will this one take place after all those?

Given the last one's ending, the only way I could see a sequel working is if it features a different duo. I hate saying that since Channing and Jonah have great chemistry, but that's the only way I see this being an ongoing franchise with multiple sequels.

It's not like they haven't tried it before either, as both films are already in canon with the TV show.
