20th Century Fox's film and TV studios are teaming to finally bring hit television series "24" to the big screen, reports Variety. Billy Ray (State of Play, Flightplan) will write the script for the feature.
Ray's pitch, which takes Jack Bauer to Europe, was a hit with Fox executives and producers of the TV series, reports Variety.
The trade adds that the script came through "24" star and executive producer Kiefer Sutherland, who is reportedly eager to turn the series into a feature franchise.
Variety cautions that a "24" feature is still very much in the preliminary stages and there are a number of factors influencing how quickly it moves ahead, including the fate of the TV show.
Fox hasn't decided whether to order a ninth season of the show. If Fox decides to pass for another season, Fox TV could shop the show to other networks, which would put the movie on the backburner.

I think this would be awesome! :woot:

Aww man i really dont want to sit in the theatre for 24 hours!! 3 was enough for avatar :p

Could work, might not, Jack Bauer would be another Jason Bourne type running around Europe killing people....

Jack Bauer in London :D

He could goto Hogworts...

Eh. I'll probably still see it, but.... eh. :o

The show is filmed cinematically and they do well with their budget, the TV movie shot in South Africa was good and it was a treat to see Jack somewhere outside of California.

But I think the time for a move has passed. They've killed too many characters off and done so much to Jack (and had too many moles and pricks in the government).

Fox could've done something cool and had the series end with the fifth season with the ultimate cliffhanger and then have a 24 movie come out each year starting with the rescue mission of Jack from China or adapting the start of season six into a film.

They write and film 18 hours worth of television each year so it would be easy for them to film a 2-2.5 hour movie each year.

I definitely think this would be cool. Guess this means that Season 8 will possibly be the last season and the film will tie everything up. There are a lot of unanswered questions and it would be interesting to see Audrey and Tony return.

Maybe the film can end with Jack dying?

Now that the show has been cancelled{:csad:}, maybe they'll start work on the movie now.

Eh I think it was about time 24 ended anyway. Don't get me wrong 24 is great. No doubt about that however 8 full seasons this far.

Cast Gary Oldman as the bad guy.

This is not open to debate.

/End.

I would love John McTiernam to direct 24:The Movie.I imagine the 24 movie
a cross between Die Hard and Speed. It must be awesome!!!!:awesome::awesome::awesome:

Don't we have to find him first? He's had a few "issues" lately, hasn't he?

I want it to take place before Day 3, we could get more David Palmer...

Or, have it take place when Jack was in Balck-Ops before Day 1...

24 is just a knock off of the Die Hard movies with the Great one known as McCl--Willis. Bruce Willis.

I love McClane more than I love Bruce Willis :yay:.

But seriosuly, is it true that 24 is a knock off? I never got into it because my love of DIE HARD 1-4 gets in the way.

Honestly I never thought of Die Hard when watching 24.

His personal life doesnt mean anything. He is a very talented, great director who has made clasics, and if they give him a good script,he can do great things again.:awesome:

24 is nothing like Die Hard.
