3 hour long Sony conference at GamesCon

On Tuesday 18th August. That's a bloody long time. I'm sure it'll be full of meh announcements like EyePet etc, but maybe we can get some serious stuff too?

That Slim has gotta be revealed there, and if not, TGS. Plus David Jaffe said his new game would be revealed soon. Plus its taking place in Europe, so I'd really like Demon's Souls to be confirmed.

Interesting. I expect to hear about a PS3 slim, a PS3 price cut maybe, some new game announcement maybe, and maybe something regarding the PSP Go! like a launch bundle with Gran Turismo.

Nuclear powered PS3 slim is announced. Promise of 4D gaming is finally realized as you can experience the radiation effects from Fallout 3 first hand.

Little Big Workplace is announced. With Sony trying to push the create your own game/experience genre, LBWP will let you choose a job (factory worker, janitor, skies the limit!). Then you can use the money from that job to create a variety of experiences, such as getting drunk and knocking up a girl, then getting stuck with child support. Or getting stuck in a run down apartment where you can rearrange your furniture anyway you want. You can even leave food lying around which spawns enemies known as rats.

Finally, in an attempt to hype up their motion control even more, Sony reveals that not only does the new motion control read your movements, it controls them. The PS Eye will send out a hypnotic wave that forces you to go to a store and buy a PSP Go.

Seriously, I'm hoping for most of the things you guys are. PS3 Slim (with rumored BW compatibility reinstated), TM for PS3, the rumored Xbox 360 game coming to PS3 (tho ME is the only thing I could see it being, tho it or Left 4 dead would be nice), more PS classics announced.

I don't expect too much tho as this isn't getting the coverage E3 gets. I think they'll just elaborate more on what they touched on at E3, and introduce (hopefully) the things listed above, and (hopefully) one other nice announcement.

I think a price cut and/or Slim maybe getting closer to an announcement. If it happens I think it will happen at this conference. Check this out:

I think a new model is definetly coming out. Look at how many PS3 bundles that have been popping up. Ive seen it packed with Resistance/Motorstorm, Ratchet/Casino Royale , LBP/Wall-E, MGS4/KZ2, MLB the Show/Quantum of Solace(BR). Thats alot and I think its bc Sony is trying to push out whatever stock is in their wharehouses

70% is a lot. It makes a $299 PS3 more feasible IMO.

If Sony doesnt screw this up. For all we know they could just turn it around and release a new $399 with more space

There have been numerous rumors circulating that the PS3 Slim will be announced in the very immediate future. With Sony preparing to hold a press conference on August 18th, many believe they’ll officially announce their new PS3 model then. Signs are now pointing very strongly to that being the case. A recent posting on Amazon is now advertising the PS3 Slim for preorder.

No price or date is revealed on the listing, but for Amazon to be listing the product it must mean that an announcement should be coming in the relative future. With Sony’s conference only a little over two weeks away, anything could be possible at this point. Currently, the listing isn't on all the Amazon sites. Whether Amazon.de jumped the gun early or not can't be certain.

Interesting...well, hopefully a PS3 slim/price cut would really bring the PS3 sales up, which would be a huge leap in living up to the PS2's success.

Let's be honest, there may never be a console that sells as well as the PS2 IMO. The Wii may get close, but nearly 150 million systems is just amazing. That being said, a price cut to the PS3 would be huge. Think about it. It has sold 23.8 million systems with a higher price tag. What will happen when that price get's cut? It will very interesting to see what happens to it's sales and to see what it's competition (namely MS) will do to counter it.
