Here is my uptake on teh 4th Villain:
Carnage- Not Enough Time to do him since supposedly there is 10 minutes of Venom.
:down Chameleon- Doesnt Tie into the Story and No way possible to fit in
:down Electro- To Big of Story to do in a movie with 3 villains already.
HobGoblin- Either Way were getting a Goblin that is Harry in the story, Im not worried over if its GG2 or HobGoblin
Hydro-Man- I could See Hydro-Man working with the Sandman story so im not cancelling this highly doubful possibility.
:down Kraven the Hunter- Easy to do on screen but what would his point in this story be? I could see him hunting the Lizard in future movies but not this one.
:down Jackal- Very doubtful
Lizard- Already have the actor and We have a way to do him, but i think a villain with his calibur should wait for a movie of his own. (but not going to cancel him out yet)
Mysterio- Easy to do, dont need much backstory, dont really care for the character but he can be done easily as a small villain. Not going to cancell him out either.
Rhino- Could easily be done IMO and could fit with the story and still be a easy small villain, highly plausible.
:down Scorpion- IMO he is a big enough character that he could have his own movie with him, but i could see him as a small bank-robber or something but I doubt we'll see him.
:down Vulture- I could see him sharing a movie with Scorpion, but IMO seeing this character on screen might seem rather cheesey.
Shocker- He could fit easily too with the story IMO he could be done wonderfully also.

 Symbiote Spider-man- With Comic Con coming and going with no mention of who the 4th villain is, its getting pretty obvious that Spider-Man will be the 4th villain .

how ridiculous. calling evil spiderman a 4th villain. talk about playing games with people's minds. unbelievable. those morons should be ashamed of themselves.

I don't know where you're getting this idea that Raimi wants the Lizard so badly, aside from the models made for SM2.

You answered your own question.

Well assuming it's not Evil Peter (which it very well might be)- my take:

Carnage - I can see Carnage being set up for a future movie with something coming off Venom's suit or whatever. Not going to be an issue in this one.
Chameleon- People will simply feel it's a Mystique rip-off. Can't see this one ever being done
Electro Besides the insanely cheesy name, too many people will think it's a rip off of Doom from Fantastic Four. Yes, obviously it's the other way around but that will be the perception.
Hobgoblin - No way. Harry won't be the Hobgobbo and there won't be another goblin.
HydroMan- Can't see this one being done with Sandman already in it.
Kraven the Hunter - I'm going to go with an above poster and say maybe with Lizard, but not here.
Jackal- I don't think so and I pray to God not. For the love of all that is good, do not begin a movie Clone Saga.
Lizard - Not for this movie, maybe in the future. Could be set up a bit in this movie though.
Mysterio - My bet is on this guy. Which is a pity because I love the character. Most people see him as comical and he will probably be done as such in the movie, but when handled right he is an excellent villain.
Rhino- Very possible. No backstory required, we just need to see Spidey beating him up maybe near the movie opening.
Scorpion - Naaa. Needs a bit more backstory.
Vulture- Too cheesy, as said above.
Shocker - I would take the approach from the Spidey 1 game and say this is possible- have him as a bank robber. I;d love to see that, and it's very plausible.

Is it me or did they cram this one with many villains? I hope Raimi makes sure to pace this baby properly. Personally i wouldve done Venom for 3 and directly set up a full blown HobGoblin as the finale in 4. Either that or those two in 3 with a good pacing. Sandman.... i dunno... i hope there isnt a character jam.

I agree...

The only redemming thing is how freaking cool Venom's teeth look!

I have faith that Sam will make it all work together, while I wish Venom would of had his own movie, I think it will work better this way

Yeah I dont think we have a reason to doubt Raimi. In fact a returning director for the third installment in these types of films is a good sign. Its pretty rare.

The lizard has been set up a little bit, Doc conners is already in the second film, so I think he's a def option for a later film. I thought Raimi was def making another film? I was sure someone said he was gonna film SM4 as soon as post-production finished on SM3? I'm not sure, but i thought i read it somewhere?

I think If they add a fourth villain, it's going to be silly, his entire world will be collapsing, harry turning bad, if they use doc conners, then he'll be bad, it's just like they're gonna get rid of all the characters!!!

I think 3 villains is more than enough, and doesn't harry only become the goblin at the end of SM3? So once peter thinks he's defeated sandman and venom, he gets attacked at the end by the goblin or something? I though they were going to use the goblin a little bit, only to set it up for number 4? I think these are all early rumours from a few months back, but I can't see Raimi turning down a SM4, the amount of money involved in SM kind of dictates that!

Very true,

Well I think if its forced it shouldnt be made. After spiderman 3s story is seen i'll decide if Id want a 4. If Harrys revenge is over, i think that weakens the purpose of more movies and then the narration will begin to ramble. Even skilled directors can begin to make sub par stuff if its forced.

there's so much scope with spider-man, I think once the harry storyline is dealt with, the franchise has more room to expand, I'd like to see the felicia hardy storyline, get morbius invovled etc. Or have the scorpion brought in? There's so many villains out there that could easily be put in films to make them great. I think harry needs to be dealt with and got rid of now, if he goes on any longer, a potential SM4 would be very dodgy, and become samey. We need the variety and stuff, I don't really want to see another goblin, I feel that a villain makes a good movie, so Raimi has plenty to choose from, I wouldn't mind him making SM4 as long as he covers some new ground, and keeps the story moving.

If they can give us more and brand new developments with the affairs of Peter, im all for more.

My personal tastes if I were in charge would probably end it after it begins to scramble for new storylines, as that can be a sign of the idea getting old, but then again this franchise leans more toward the comic sensibilities and theres a bit more leeway.

The Lizard

He's already been introduced in SM2. It'd make sense if he would be the cliffhanger villain, Doc Connors transforming into the Lizard. Perhaps he could be helping Peter along the way in SM3 about the symbiote.

I could easily see Mysterio as a street magician.

Why are people saying that mysterio is going to be in SM3? how can they go from one villain(SM2) to four? Where has anyone heard this?

you guys are all missing something. there's not going to be a "REAL" 4th villain. because raimi said yesterday the only new character/villain they're introducing is venom, as sandman has a tie-in with uncle ben's murder. i suppose it could be lizard, as that wouldn't necessarily be a "new introduction", as doc connors has already been introduced in sm 1 and 2.

but it would make sense to have a 4th villain appear. the 3rd movie obviously doesn't pick up exactly where sm 2 left off and something - spiderman battles - theoretically had to happen in the interim, so why not a cameo or small battle at the beginning of the movie? i think it would be the perfect way to start the movie, tail end of a battle with a '4th villain'.

I agree but if they get to 6+ i wouldnt mind hobgoblin as a secondary villain that just happened to find one of norman's stashes or one like kingsley that had a henchman do that for him.

YOUR ALL LEAVING OUT MAN WOLF LOOK AT THE SIGNS IN SPIDER-MAN 2
In Spider-Man 2, John Jameson, played by Daniel Gillies, is Mary Jane Watson's fiancé. But when she found out that Peter Parker was Spider-Man, she realized that she did not truly love John. Then she left John at the altar and came to Peter's apartment when she told him she wanted to be with him no matter what. The movie includes multiple references to the comic story arc where John Jameson becomes Man-Wolf. Jameson wears the same medallion that in the comics turned him into Man-Wolf, and he is portrayed next to a full moon in another scene. It has been confirmed that Daniel Gillies will reprise his role in Spider-Man 3. And since Avi Arad has announced that there will be a fourth villain in the film, Man-Wolf could appear.

I think it's too soon, they can't just change all the characters into badguys straight away, thats lunacy. Why not throw doc conners as the lizrd in!!! I think these things are scope for future films (if any)

manwolf is being left out because he's NOT IN THE MOVIE. the interview with the actor playing j. jonah jameson a week or so ago confirmed it. i don't know where the thread is but i'm sure you can find it.

Hasn't someone high up already been quoted as saying Spider-Man himself is a "fourth villain?" That's dissapointing if it is. I was looking for an actual fourth villain, not a psycho babble trick answer.

again, the only possibility is lizard, and it's a remote one at that. raimi said no other new characters/villains other than venom. and yes, somebody else did say evil spidey might be the '4th villain'. which is definitely shameless mind games.

Its going to be symbiote spidey. It was just Avi's idea of being clever to call him a fourth villain.
