you made me smile:)

If I can make somebody smile and then get mad at me within a few minutes or vice versa, I've done my job.

Oh, deliciously ironic if you go for the dead children humor.

I like to think that I have a little bit more heart that I won't take the pain of others and garner a religious joke out of it.
Hype-goers have never developed much in the delicate art of TACT.

Anyway, this is uncanny. I remember when I used to work on the reservation (50 miles north of the Mexican border), there were high -- and I mean high, to the point of bizarre -- numbers of tragedies where children were struck by lightning during a storm. Going through these records from the 1950s and 60s, I realized that our elementary schools emphasized safety education during lightning storms for good reason.

...But it just doesn't make sense. No matter what city you live in in the sonoran desert, mexican or american, you see at most 2-3 lightning storms per year. In humid climates, there are 10-20 lightning storms per year. Their cities have just as many tall trees/posts/etc., metal objects, and negligent persons as our cities. So why are OUR fatalities off the scale?
