The story mentions it was a gay nightclub so no info on if the shooter just chose the place for a particular reason or just randomly did it.

The official information looks pretty bad from what I can piece together:

- Linked to Islamic terrorism
- The shooting did not begin in the nightclub. he fled into the densely packed establishment. So basically the police chased a heavily armed suspect into a tightly confined space with numerous innocent civilians.

The last part makes me think someone seriously ****ed up.

I'm not one to trust the official line automatically, but when someone like the FBI spokesman "suggests" links to Islamic terrorism to the media, he's usually not just blowing smoke.

They're calling this terrorism, but as far as I know the shooter didn't have a political or ideological goal. If he did, he did a piss poor job of showing it. Maybe the colloquial definition has changed, I don't know.
