5th sequel in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy

No thanks... I'd rather keep my Douglas Adams Hitchhiker's guide collection pure.

How can you call something a "trilogy" when it's getting it's fifth sequel?

I'm missing something, but the numbers just don't add up.

You are missing something. The five books of the Hitchhiker's Guide trilogy are awesome.

Eh, I'm way too lazy to get into something new. So, it's just called a trilogy, even though there're more than 3?

I'm just going to chalk it up as one of those things I'll never understand and leave this thread forever. :csad:

Don't leave empty-handed. Satiate your curiosity and pick up the first book.:yay:

If it's not Douglas Adams it aint Hitchhiker's Guide. Period.

I'm content with what Douglas Adams published. I've no interest in someone else mucking about in his universe

Ditto on both counts.

The end is so fantastic, even though it's THE END, end. The new book can't possibly live up to what Adams did and come back from that ending.

I disagree Gilp, as it is not the ending. Adams intended to write one more book but died before he could finish it. It could be interesting if another author has access to Adams notes and can capture his tone and humor style properly.

I know... but I'm not really going to hope for much with Adams' notes and some other guy writing it. Even though it wasn't the planned end, it still works. This whole thing just feels more like the Bourne series where a guy came on to write more cause it was popular and less like Dune where it was unfinished and somewhat needed a finish.

If Adams had lived longer, The Salmon of Doubt would have been the sixth part of the trilogy.

Colfer is not using Adams' notes. He's essentially been given the reins by Adams' wife and he is making it from scratch.

This book will have as much merit as the 2 Dune books written by Frank Herbert's son from nothing more than a 2 1/2 page outline. If Frank lived longer, those books might have turned out differently.

I was actually kind of disappointed with the way the series ended.

I'd settle for a watchable movie adaptation.

I'm with Ferret on this one. Trilogy? Can someone explain or do I just have to accept it without it making sense?

Stupid book publishers took the three books when he clearly wasn't finished, and called them a trilogy... but he kept writing the books and kept the trilogy thing because it was hilarious.

So Eggy gets an explanation and I get told to look it up for myself. :csad:

Sorry Ferret. Earlier it was "oh, there's just one person asking, they can look it up." But now there clearly has to be an explanation in the thread or else the entire thing will be people asking the same question because everyone will just continue the in-joke of it or saying "look it up."

My bad. :csad:
