I know this will be wierd but i just noticed that this month makrs the 5th year i have posted on the boards and i thought that maybe all the other 5 year members could come in and post fond memories or just plain old say what they love about the site.

I love being updated daily on Superhero news and movies but i have always wondered hwy so little updates on Saturday and Sunday?

So anyway post away if you like I thought this would be a good idea.

Cause even comic book movie insiders have social lives.

I kinda figured that but I wasnt totally sure so am I the only 5 year person? Surely there must be more?

Oh and thanks StorminNorman.

Has it been 5 years?? Damn, I feel old. My 5th year anniversary will occur on November 11.

This site used to be a lot better but kind of went down the crapper in mid 2005. A lot of the smarter, funnier posters have either been banned or left.

how can you been her for five years and have such a measly post count?

i racked up more than that in my first month on this place (back when it was 3,000 for an avatar).

In his defence, these days, there's not so much worth posting. The majority of the threads lack originality, have been done to death or are just boring.

I understand a general reduction of post rate, it goes without saying but not to have had an avatar when the hype was running at its prime...

seems a lil weird.

Then his 5 years were truly wasted. :csad:

People are mocked for saying "Hype sucks now, it used to be so much better".
I mock them for saying that.

Nonetheless, today I was trying to find a really old thread, to prove that a certain poster is a pervert, and upon searching, I was confronted with an explosive cornucopia of amazing, hilarious, colorful, exciting and mind-bending thread titles, that I remember, from years ago, that are HELLA-better than anything I've seen in 2007. s'true

good point. Maybe he's just more of a lurker or simply isn't that vocal. There are some people here who joined last year and have racked up more than 15,000 posts. Its insane.

Exactly! The talent was no doubt a lot better from 2000 - early 2005. We had colourful personalities with natural charisma and a lot more intelligent people. Now adays, this site is plagued with absurd pc and far too many wannabees.

If we look at the current first page, it's easy to see:

- Too many "List" threads
- Too much ****ing SPORTS. ( Go to one of the 9 million SPORTS sites to talk about that garbage. )
- Too many News Stories where the threadmaker just says, "Hmmm, that's a vaguely sordid topic." and gives you a link to a news site.
- Too many really super narrow focus topics, that will only appeal to a certain group, like Survivor or the wrestling thread.

Bad Hype, BAD. :o

I'd say the bigger question is, how could be he have been here for five years if he registered in 2003 and it is 2007. Wouldn't that mean he was here for four years?

This site went down hill around mid-2003 to mid-2004. Your "second generation talent" is weak compared to the old school Spider-Man Hypesters :cwink:

I think it was more because their was weirder and crazy personality people on here then.

Yeah i realized that but since the new year is just around the corner I will be close enough and to answer my low post count I usually just like to read stuff and comment here and there Post counts don't mean much to me. SO i guees we could save this for next november but i was really just wondering of the 03 class who still posted.

No, now that is just clear nostalgic rose-goggling.
I lurked when it was Spider-Man Hype. That was nothing magical.
It's like most comic books.
The 1st 10 or 20 issues have s***ty art.
Then, they hit a heyday stride, in the middle, which is how the whole world comes to think of it.
Then, there's floundering, apathy and a dismal sense of "Everything's been done to death" and either a reflexive, habitual returning to old tropes in an uninspired way, or desperate attempts to recapture the past that only serve to embarrass the initiator and the audience.

That doesn't count. Even come January you will still be 10 months away from your 5th anniversary.

No, its more like a comic book like Spider-Man, where the first 10 to 20 years are really good and have substance and depth, but then a new editor decides to shake things up with we get an overrated newbie villain like Venom (AKA: Posters like Wilhelm) who become insanely popular despite the fact that anyone with half a brain realizes how crappy they really are. :cwink:

Well jeez man i know that i just really wanted to make a thread that wasnt boring i just got excited and thought it would be a great topic cause ihadnt seen one like it before so i thought hey what the hell. I mean january will technically be my 5th year since i had lurked since spidey hype.
