Ok dumber follow up.

We know that in the phantom zone people exist in corporeal forms, so if they destroyed his body wouldnt that have simply killed him?

well jor-els body has been destroyed, but he can still think and react to present occurences as an "Echo"

maybe thats whats happening with zod.

Yes but Jor-El has something he can exist in. Be it the caves, crystals, etc. Personally I think it's a program and not the actual Jor-El but that's me and the writers should feel free to prove me wrong. What how did Zod exist in the Phantom Zone before he was released? In a crystal? In Brainiac? Bowl of Jello?

Theories? Cause I'm pretty sure they wont address it.

I think they might address it. Stranger things have happened. ;)

I think that it's not too hard to accept the living "essence" of Zod surviving in the PZ, even with other beings in there having a corporeal presence. It's not a really far out concept compared to.. well, everything else.

In the SV universe, the existence of non-corporeal entities has already been established - i.e. Spirit and Pat's favorite character. :p

puff the magic dragon lived by the sea, and frolicked in the ocean's mist in the land called hana-lee

I was looking up the history of Zod and found this article, which I thought was interesting. It seems that Smallville's introduction of Kryptonian criminals existing in the Phantom Zone as spirits only is something that has existed before.

In 1961, “The Phantom Superboy” was a story that introduced the “Phantom Zone.” Superboy discovered that the Phantom Zone was a strange “twilight dimension” that existed on a different plane of existence. Krypton used it as a prison for their most horrible criminals. There was no death penalty on Krypton, so sending them to the Phantom Zone, a place discovered by Superman’s father Jor-El, was seen as the worthy alternative. A press of the button on the Phantom Zone Projector and the criminal was exiled into the other dimension, not to be retrieved until their sentence was up (prisoners could be observed via special viewscreens and retrieved by the same projector).

In this place, the prisoners existed as spirits, unable to age, but also unable to touch each other or interact with the true physical universe, which they could still see and observe. Curious that Kryptonians considered death too harsh, yet one could argue that being exiled to existence as a ghost for anywhere from a few years to a few decades, forced to watch friends, family and enemies go on with their lives and not able to interact at all, would be a fate far worse than death.

^Nice research there, avid. :)

So, I wonder if SV is having a PZ where some criminals are held as spirits and some are not. Waitaminute.. why is Jor-El's former assistant in the PZ anyway? Isn't that who is supposed to help Clark?

Thanks, with all the hoo haa of Lex as Zod being a total cop out, I thought that I would show that its something that has actually been done before.

Maybe there's a bit of both. From what I remember of the spoilers for Raya, Zod sent her there.

Yo! Turn on your chat. ;)

I'm just about to go and watch Kill Bill, then I'll check in after that to see if you're still on. :)

Well, it's still kind of a cop-out, because once he was released from the Phantom Zone he should've had a body, or something.

Anyway, don't get me wrong. I don't mind the idea of Lex being "posessed" by Zod a bit.

I am curious as to what Fine wants Martha and Lois for? How does to go into Zod's plans

Aren't they on a plane that's on a collision course with the ground?

I would say that pretty much sums up the plan, IMO.

After we watched the first one, we then watched the second one, so it didnt finish until after 1.00. Wasnt sure if you were still up at 3.00 a.m.

It was one of the more unusual movies that I have seen.

He did, he got Lex's body. ;) According to De Knight, there will be some explanation regarding this body swapping stuff in this episode.
