61 Nights of Halloween (2024 Edition)

Rewatching both Terrifier movies before the new one (aka watching youtubers react to it for the first time) and I still love they used The Midnight for the intro.

In a month where I see plenty of wonderful performances, and in a show wall to wall with them, Linklater in Midnight Mass is one of my favourites every time. So good.

Bite-Sized Review: The lesser of the 4 good flicks, missing the intriguing hook of the other 3. But it has MEW and still knows how to kill.

Bite-Sized Review: Randomly saw this classic in 60 fps. Don't do that.

So, I finally watched this tonight and honestly it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be based on the trailers. I still wouldn't go as far as to call it a good movie especially when the GDT films are out there and have set the bar pretty high IMO but there were some interesting ideas introduced in this, and Jack Kesy was actually okay as Hellboy although he's still my least favorite interpretation of the character.

Maybe its more faithful to the source material but as someone who has only seen the films I felt like he was really lacking the screen presence and charisma of Pearlman and eventhough Harbour was in a really bad Hellboy movie I at least bought him more in the role and the makeup looked a lot better too. Everything about this film just looked and felt super cheap and while I can appreciate the smaller scale story, I thought this film completely fell apart when it came to the execution of the horror elements.

It tries to be so atmospheric and scary but I found nothing scary about it and weirdly enough I couldn't help but think throughout that Neil Marshall would have been a much better choice to direct this. Instead of wasting his time and talent on that misfire that came out in 2019 I could actually see him being pretty much a perfect fit for this kind of Hellboy film but to Brian Taylor's credit at least its better than Ghost Rider 2.

This definitely had potential in the right hands but the budget and other constraints behind the camera just didn't allow it to live up to that potential but its far from the worse thing I've seen this year.

I'd still rather watch this again over The Crow 2024.

House of Dracula

It's so wild to me that the only modifier they made to have a female Igor is just to give a dolled-up actress a hunchback that looks like she stuffed two small pillows behind her back and called it a day.

Can't post the video due to language but Dead Meat just posted their newest edition of "Guess The Kill". I only got 4 out of 20 correct.

Raatma - VHS 94
Nail Gun - Final Destination 3
Police Station - Malignant
Window Launch - Gremlins

Disappointed myself with the Hills Have Eyes one, its so obvious once you know the title.

Number 20 was incredibly hard.

Well, this was an interesting experience to say the least lol. As I've said before I'm not the biggest fan of this franchise and I still have no idea where this is all going or what this convoluted mess of a plot is but after this film, I'm actually kind of intrigued in what they are going to do going forward.

I also must say that this is honestly my favorite performances from both David Howard Thornton and Lauren LaVera in this franchise so far. Thornton is just great here as Art the Clown, and I got way more out of his actual performance in this than any of the over-the-top kills. I know the kills are what people talk about the most when it comes to this franchise but that's honestly my least favorite aspect of these movies so far.

Also, if they somehow manage to stick the landing LaVera will easily go down as one of my favorite final girls. As much as I liked her character in the last film, she's even more of a badass in this.

I still doubt any of these movies will have a whole lot of rewatchability for me in the future outside of certain scenes but this is my favorite of the three and I'm looking forward to the next one.

7/10
