616 venom or ultimate?

that basically says it all. but personally i hope they go with ultimate but it is doubtfull. but ultimate is such a better story than 616. i think it just makes venom his ultimate (no pun intended) enemy by them being childhood friends and their fathers working together.

I agree... Ultimate is so much better. And they could do so much with the childhood friends thing. But will they?
Venom is going to be so hard to CGI. OMG... i would hate to be the person to have to do that.

yeah......imma gunna disagree. I wont pretend to be an expert on the ultimate series, cause im not. As cutesy and nice as bein childhood buds and have a magical cancer suit. Imma take my slighted, angry eddie brock, with no boyhood connection to parker, but rivals, with having his life basically destroyed by parker/spiderman. As for the 616 explination in the secret wars, yeah i could live without that. But I love the TAS explination of the symbiote. Now i wish i knew alot more about the ultimate line, so i could properly reem it, but either way we all have different opinions. Also to the Ultimate fans, is the church depiction with a jaded, down trotted, sucidial Brock in the ultimate series when he gets the suit?

if u dont know much about it look at the wikipeidia definition of ultimate venom. i really think that once u understand it more it wont be a "magical cancer suit". its like radiation it can be used to treat cancer (chemo) or for other not so good reasons

i cant stand the ultimate story, eddie and peter shouldnt be friends, their fathers shouldnt work together, eddie should hate spiderman and the symibote should hate peter. they dont need to be childhood friends, that takes the element away from harry and peter's relationship.

uh no.... that's the animated series and the Amazing Spider-man series. in ultimate Peter has the symbiote costume on, and Eddie Brock finds out what Peter did and who he was (him being Spider-man) and opens the "cure" and gets Venom b/c the suit was once attached to Peter so it still has all of the Spider powers. If that's confusing please tell me...

Ultimate Venom was a story that had a huge amount of potential, and the setup and first half or so of it was an amazing new approach to the symbiote saga --- but as it went on I think the third act of it just kind of fell flat.

Ultimate Eddie Brock, while very similar in character to the 616 version, never seemed to have any real sense of motivation. While 616 Brock's motivation is admittedly somewhat contrived and even has had to be reworked several times to make more sense, its still always had this sense of intensity, that the Ultimate version just lacked. It didn't help that the actual Venom character was basically a silent, human devouring cypher, that lacked the menace of his 616 counterpart (At least in the early appearances.... yes, I'm pretending Lethal Protecter didn't exist ).

I still liked the storyarc in Ultimate a lot, but I think the animated series approach that the movie seems to be going for works far better as a much more complete, developed storyline.

616 is where my heart at, but I have a special place for Ultimate Venom. I thought the entire arc was done very well, and I was impressed with the new origin for Eddie Brock, and the "suit".

However, for the movie, I think it would be a nice to touch to keep the extraterrestrial origin of the symbiote.

its gotta be 616. it the original and the movies should stay true to them. in my opinion the ultimate universe has ruined a lot of great origins. the ultimate green goblin sucked, the ultimate venom sucked, the ultimate carnage sucked, and the ultimate kraven was the most rediculous thing ever! 616 all the way!
