I don't know, I don't think it's necessarily a case of bad parenting, even good parents have to turn their eye from their kids every once in awhile.

It seems like the parents actually responded to the situation rather well, by reporting it to the school so that they were aware, and taking the child to the police bureau to hopefully teach him a lesson.

You've apparently never snuck out of your house as a kid, huh?

Let's not automatically assume every parent is a moron who doesn't care about their kids. It's quite easy, especially if it's not a small house. Parents think kid is asleep like he is every night; mom's in the tub, dad is snoring in bed...kid's got plenty of time to sneak out.

This kid was lucky he didn't end up posted on some milk carton.

Or worse. There have been incidents were cops mistook kids with toy guns as bad guys and for one reason or another popped the kid.

This! My front door is very quite. My kids could easily sneak out. Except I have an alarm system so that wouldn't happen. But not everyone has an alarm system.
