Got a piece today I ordered awhile back and forgot about. A Batman '89 speargun dart, custom CNC'd and 100% steel. It unscrews into 6 separate machined pieces, and when fully assembled is strong as an ox.

Sure, it's from the Keaton film and not Begins, but it's still awesome. And it goes great with the Begins Grapple gun.

Awesome!! I like it there. I wish I has one. I hope it wasn't too much to pay for it, with how it look like the real thing from the set. ;)

wow that is so cool. where did you buy this from? i actually prefer the '89 grapple gun because it is 2 seperate pieces that you have to click together.

It's custom machined by a German fan and prop builder. His email address is [email protected] and his name is Guido, if you want him to make you one.

This coming week, I'm working on attaching a monofilament steel cable to it :)

how much does he charge? and does he have a website for his work?

Your best bet is to email him directly. As far as I know he has no website, and all trading deals are discussed directly with him.

Probably a good way to avoid getting in trouble with WB, huh? I don't blame some starting their business that way. Since he doesn't have his own website, how you found out about him in the first place? Just wondering. :)

yeah same here. i wouldnt trust anyone unless they have a website or somewhere where they have pics of there stuff.

Isn't that the "Begins" grapple? Not the '89 Speargun?

Sorry to be a geek and point that out. But it's still cool nonetheless.

Yes, as I said in the original post, I know the spear is from '89, but I've been having a lot of trouble finding or making an accurate Begins grapple dart, so I take what I can get :)

I know Guido because we are both members of several prop and costume sites, and I know his work from way back. He has a reputation for honesty.

And also it's true about legal issues. To avoid the wrath of WB and DC, most of the fans just privately make and trade this stuff among themselves. We try to keep it from turning into a full-fledged "business."

I've posted another thread here with pictures of my Batman Begins Closet project, but just in case you missed it:

I still have several more pieces to finish, including a new replacement cowl, an undersuit, and a cape. Let me know what you think :)

wow that really awsome. now you should make a steel closet like in B89.

Ha. A steel batsuit vault would be an astronomical task. The nice thing about Begins and the realism within it is that an old wooden Chinese style wardrobe is entirely buildable by just about anyone.

Not to mention the work involved in putting together a Keaton 89 suit, which I really have no interest in.

Ah I see...my bad...

still awesome, gregday
