9.02 - Metallo - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Brainiac, Zod, Mr. Mxy all were just evil to be evil.

And so was Doomsday. Just because he had a human side that was trying to fight the evil, didnt make him any less evil for the sake of being evil.

And i think Clark burning the symbol where he was is his way of giving hope to the citizens in Metropolis,

I agree with this line of thinking too, but I also think its a set-up so that the Kryptonians (and possibly Jor-el if that was him we saw at the end of this episode) will recognise that there is already a Kryptonian on Earth, with powers.

Yeah never thought of it that way.. But Clark doesn't know of them being there does he?

No he doesnt. So Clark's motivation for burning the "S" (which I agree is a bit vandalistic) is to show the citizens of Metropolis that someone is out there protecting them and they dont have to walk around the city in fear. It's the symbol of Hope that its meant to be.

I'm sure later on he'll fix all the property damage that he's done. :woot:

So from a story telling point of view, the symbol is being left for two reasons.

On that note, so were Faora, and the two krypto thugs that showed up in season five.

Also, what about the Zoners....most of them were just evil, which is the reason they were in the Phantom Zone to begin with. Titan, Phantom Ivy, Bone wrester fighter guy were all just evil/terrorists and the sort.

haha well he mostly does it to already damaged things

A pretty large handfull of the meteor freaks where just bad for no reason actually lol

I think the \S/ burning is a bit silly, yes, but, at the same time, I like the connection it makes to a certain hero of old... Zorro. He also wore black and worked to help the innocent and the helpless. And, heroes like Zorro eventually led to the creation of Superman, so keeping that in mind, I don't mind the \S/ tagging too much.

And, as avid points out, this could play into the story if/when it alerts Zod (and a new, living copy of Jor-El?) to a powered Kryptonian living in Metropolis.

Is Clark still going to wear the black costume now that he's "back" or is he going to go back to the classic red and blue?

Coincidence- Clark dressed as Zorro in the Buffy halloween eps few seasons back :woot:

As for alerting Zod to his presence on earth- Zod believes it to be Jor-el which is why he releases the virus, Only a kryptonians blood can counter it. But thats next episode.

It seems very Marvel-like to give the good guy in a bad situation backdrop to the majority of villains.

Actually they commented more than once over the years on the fact that the Kryptonite affected the people's brains as well as giving them powers.

Thus they did have a reason for being evil. Only a few known meteor infected people have been able to not go crazy.

yea like memory easer guy, or kyle pickett in season 1.

There were a few meteor infected that were bad before getting dosed.

Bleh, I'm pretty sure Clark figured that the EMP would temporarily disable Metallo and not kill him as Hamilton said that he was more machine now than human.

I wouldn't classify that as Clark being an attempted murderer.

do people really think Clark is being emo? That word is so over used that it has lost its meaning.

I take it, you didn't like the episode Injustice much? :oldrazz:

yea i dont really bother with supermanhomepages reviews anymore. i only read a few myself. Also i would agree with your list above about dc villains in the show. As for livewire i agree totallyed wasted her and neurton. Parasite could be a little better and plastique i liked her. I do hope we get to see plastique and parasite again would be nice.

I enjoyed it but it just wasn't an accurate adaptation of The Injustice League IMO .

First off None of these characters featured are in the real Injustice League .

Second without Lex Luthor , The Joker, or Gorilla Grodd in the picture Forget it . This wannabe teen-psycho club can go to hell for all I care .

Finally what was the point of introducing the character of Livewire only to kill her in the episode, 2 minutes later ? As I said before wasted opportunity .

The effects used to show Parasite steal Clark's powers was all that was good about him . The actor they got for Rudy Jones was weak . Shawn Ashmore as Eric Summers character was more like the mythology version of Rudy Jones / The Parasite Than this hack featured in "Injustice".

Jessica Parker Kennedy as Plastique was annoying in both episodes she guest-star in period.

you know i still find it silly they didnt let mxy be a magical imp due when in season 4 the subplot with magic and witchs were all around the season. and then spell that aired week after jinx featured magic. So i still wished they could have just went all out with mxy and it could have been a silly fun episode and at the end of the episode mxy earses everyone minds but clarks and all that.

Smallville's version of Mxy was an Abomination to the character . That's all I'm going to say on that subject . :cmad:
