Do you think it can pass as New York City ?

Just dump a bunch of garbage on the city, and you're set.

I think it's crap they keep trying to pass of Canada cities as New York and other major American cities. I know it's supposedly cheaper to film there but I would just like it to be like the old days. Where the majority of the time they actually filmed in the cities the movie takes place in.

I got mad when I heard that the new Kevin Bacon movie Death Sentence took place in Boston and was filmed in South Carolina instead.

Who cares where it's filmed?! The movie takes place in New York and it will look like New York when it comes to theaters or dvd.

Why would anyone be worried?

Production value, that's all. Die Hard with a Vengeance was shot in NY, it made a big difference with other films shot in Vancouver or wherever and pretending...

Ah, I suppose we can only wish for the best, trust the directorette ;) and feel fortunate to see P2 finally in motion...

This is why it's called movie magic! :D

yeah, we'll see.

Not "we'll see". It IS a theatrical release unless Marvel changed it's contract w/Lionsgate and are allowing them to do this. That would make no sense. Marvel could just say no and let LGF back out and get the rights back. It's theatrical. Just like Hulk 2 is a DTV release w/Duchovny. :oldrazz:

Punisher isn't some epic film where you need wide shots of the city throughout the film. They can take their shots of the city still and not film there. 16 blocks was filmed in Toronto right??? Wasn't that supposed to be another city like NY??? I forgot.

I'm always amazed at how picky people can be over the dumbest, most trivial things...

That's the main reason I come here. It's quite entertaining to see people here going hysterical over things and posting thread after thread about how concerned they are over hair color, a characters height, etc...

Nobody is going hysterical in this thread. It was normal to be concerned about a film set in NY and not shot in NY.
When you see the same friggin' forest in Crying Freeman, Elektra, FF2, X3, and so forth ; you can question the value of shooting in Canada.

This isn't an anti-Canada locations rant, mind you ; the same can be said for Prague or Australia.

It's especially appropriate for the Punisher after the let down of the previous film being set in Florida.
