Please answer the questions honestly. And don't be nitpicky about what a violent video game is, we all know what I mean. It has to be semi-realistic, so Mario murdering turtles does NOT qualify.

This seems pointless since most people have played violent video games and committed non-violent crimes, especially if you're considering traffic laws, forgery, shoplifting, assault (which covers any fight you've ever been in), underage drinking, etc.

Actually, assault would be a violent crime, so a ton of people have done that. :o

just answer the damn question :cmad:

I agree with X-Chick your result are going to be pointless because your survey is vague.

it is only a general survey...on this site, the results will proabably be skewed, yes, but when I ask random people of all age groups, they should even out a bit...and it's not vauge, as I'm only trying to get a general sense of it, I will be using other research with it.

Yes it is vague, KOTOR is a violent video game? You can run over civilians with no repercussions in any of the GTA games, you have literally chop innocent people in half in the first God of War, and this equates to turn-based blasting and hacking at humanoid alien/monsters that are ATTACKING YOU in Knights of the Old Republic? Video game categories like Violent and Non-violent are relative to the player, and what constitutes a violent crime is not necessarily common knowledge.

that's why I said, any semi-realistic depection of violence against humans or humanoids...while it's turn based in KOTOR, them attacking you first has nothign to do with it. You can play all of GTA without killing any civilians if you so choose. You can play Postal 2, considered to be the most violent game ever made by some, without commiting a single act of violence through the entire game. So I gave the defenition that I'm using for this study, if you disagree, that's your perogative, but I dont give a crap about that right now, as it's my paper.

You're right, inaccurate data is your problem not mine.

I grew up playing violent video games, and in fact still do well into my 30's. In fact, I just finished Neverwinter Nights 2 and had the graphic violence on the highest setting.

Despite playing video games either on console or PC, I've never had an inclination toward committing a violent or non-violent crime.

I've tried playing some of the violent video games out there, but frankly, I find them boring. Too much blood, too predictable as to who the "bad" and "good" guys are, and not nearly enough innuendo, good music or good looking bodies to keep me interested for very long. ;)
