A lot of talk has gone around about boycotting the dragonball movie and many fans are saying how they can see the film will flop.

I say give the movie a chance.

Yes it has deviated from the spurce material on some points but it is an adaption. If you believed a main studio would feature talking animals and dinosaurs in the film just because they were in the manga you were deluded yourslef. The talking naimals never did anything to forward the plot and so they are expendable. If you compare it to x-men or resident evil then it is a very faithful adaption, i mean it has all the primary characters and vents still intact with the unfortunate exception of poor krillin.

The film has a talented director who has a nack for humor, is good with martial arts and seems to liek the source material. The villains in played by an actor who seems genuinely enthusiastic about the film.

It may not be a perfect cast and crew but its a lot better than many film adaptions are handed. We could have got Tom Cruise and Uwe Boll.

And to all of thsoe who keep saying "Lets tell fox our opinions by not going and then they can do a decent remake!". How many new franchise have a box office disaster and then get a superior remake speedily made? I can`t think of any. I mean i guess hulk counts but that only got a sequel because marvel kept on at it. I mean thunderbirds. Godzilla 98. I mean superman spent almost 20 years waiting for another movie after the disaster that was supes 4. If the films is bad it will fail reguardless of if we go or not. But can we pass up the possibility that it could be a kick-ass movie that we would kick ourselves for missing. And if by bycotting it mindlessly we somehow sabotage a good movie then fox will consider a dragonball movie unworkable and we will not see another attempt for decades.

It seems pedantic but i am getting seriously annoyed with all the prophets of doom around here. Declaring the film dead and a travesty against the source material without even seeing the film.

When the film comes out I will watch it because this will prob be the only time the dragonball will be attempted in decades (if not perhaps even our entire lifetimes) and I want to see the whole film for myself and make the judgement based on that.

Who is with me?

I'll probably go see it, but my decision where to see will lie in the reviews and reactions of those who have seen it.

If it's kickass, I'll lay out $13 and see it fresh.

If it's poor, I'll wait for it to play in the cheapies.

Considering this movie's demographic will not be for 36 year old females like myself you can count me really really out in an I don't care way. I may rent it though just out of curiosity later on.

lol i remember threads like this for x-men3 and transformers...

dont watch it and you'll be the only one not to... lol:p

X-Men 3 was alright but nothing to write home about compared to the second movie and Bayformers was 100% undiluted crap. How do people like such poor film making? Movies should be made by guys like Chris Nolan who have real vision. Not 2 bit hacks.

chris nolan's strong point isnt sci-fi/action... which is everything transformers should be.

it seems nolan wont step out of his comfort zone... which is what might never have him be in the ranks of spielberg who can direct any genre in any way.

Chris Nolan would be completely wrong for both X-men and Transformers.

I've watched Dragon ball since I'm 6 yr old (I'm 23 now)...I'll be in the movie theatr when the movie comes out no matter what lol

I could see Zack Snyder as a good director for Transformers if they were to restart the franchise. He has the visual style to make it other worldy yet stay true to the premise. I mean seriously, who actually likes their Transformers wrapped in a subpar Teenage sex comedy?

Thanks for bringing up transformers and x-3. They kinda prove my point. People said they would boycott x-men 3 and transformers and it didn`t make any difference. I mean if you genuinely don`t like the movie don`t watch it. But if you think not watching it is gonna make a statement to the studio then you will prob be disapointed.

Oh come Transformers was alright, its a movie about alien robots changing into vehicles, they made a decent movie of it considering what it is.

It was only meant to entertain.

this is like if somebody ask me if i am going to see a thundercat movie, or a justice league movie

I personally love DB more than the previous cartoons i mentioned, so of course i wont miss it, no matter the changes.

Not I!

I`ll be seeing DB the movie...Believe it!!!

Im a fan of B movies so as long as the movie gives off the same vibe as the cartoon(fun, energetic, funny), Ill probably enjoy it even if the story isnt well thought out. Besides, I REALLY want to see a Kamehameha in a live action movie.

BS. BS. BS.

James Wong is a terrible director. What was his ONE martial arts movie? THE ONE. God awful CRAP. He's not good at humor. He's not talented. He's a mainstream corporate hack yes man for 20th Century Fox.

The Final Destination movies are terrible. The third one he did was intelligence insulting. And it wasn't funny besides some elaborately, gory kills.

The film has a director. Capable, yes. Talented? No. He's not done anything spectacular to be considered talented in the industry. I along with a lot of dragonball fans who saw "The One" saw hints of what could be done especially the sense of high speed fighting. It was still generic action flare.

Fox is a studio known for being very pig headed with the properties they buy. They always have the final say over directors, producers, and basically anyone who has a creative decision to make. The problem is, If you take away what made it what it was in the first place, you alienate the fans and basically say what it was before wasnt good enough. theres really no point in making a fans wet dream come true if you're not going to do it right. I can live without Dino's and talking animals. But puting Goku in high school? Making him basically an abercrombie model, puting in new characters, making it the same generic "heroes journey" film we've seen countless times before. Thats just insulting.

I'll see the movie, but I wont pay 10 bucks to do so. I held on for a shred of hope for as long as i could, for over a year now since work began on the movie. I can't do it anymore.

James Wong wrote the script for the One it was supposed to be real good and was sought after by several studios.

In the end the studio that got it cut down the script, cut out all the intelligence and character development to make a short action movie that was a ripoff of Matrix.

James Wong said he didnt like it.

If you think crap is alright, yeah. But I'll take The Dark Knight over that pile of excrement any day.
