This has been a labor of love for what feels like forever now. It couldn't have been more than two months, but it's felt like forever.
It all started when DarkAllKnighter (at the time known as CrazyClown_UK) proposed some people on the boards should make a comic book.
Any time a great artist suggests something like this I immediately jump at the situation. I've always wanted to be able to draw, but I'm not good at drawing. I have the vision, but no ability. So I always offer my writing "talents" for such a project when the proposition comes up. And he accepted =)
Shortly thereafter, DarkXGothamite joined the team and things were looking good =) DxG had recently wowed the TDK spoilers board with some brilliant watercolor paintings and CC_UK was brand new and posted some great work right off the bat.
So I was honored to be associated with them.
The goal was simple: Do a short comic book that had some sort of relation to The Dark Knight. So we eventually had the idea of doing a short Joker story. A heist similar to the TDK prologue.
So i wrote the story. They enjoyed it, and then I wrote a full script and drew storyboards to accompany my script. This would help them see what I saw.
And then my work was done. Then they put in the big time work. Slaving over pencil and paper. DarkAllKnighter inked and colored in photoshop, and DxG painted using watercolors.
Two drastically different styles coming together on one project.
DarkAllknighter tackled pages 1-4 and DarkXGothamite took on pages 5-7.
The always great Vicariou5, after seeing our teaser posters, offered his services in drawing a cover. And how could I turn him down?
So, much like DxG, Vic used pencil on paper with watercolors. And he touched it up a bit in photoshop. And it turned out great!
And today we finally posted our seven page baby. And at the suggestion of Vicariou5, I've decided to give this work it's own thread.
I will post the storyboards and teaser posters in this thread as well.
I want to take the time to say that it was a pleasure working with both of these guys. They are generous artists and seemed like they really wanted to get my ideas right. And I appreciate that. It's not easy to do a collaboration across hundreds of miles, using only e-mail, myspace, and a message board, but we did it. And I'm proud of it.
So without further adieu...here it is. (Vicariou5 stitched all the images together so that they can fit in a single post)
